Default Just Checked Some S 12 Eps. From Odyssey--they're HORRIBLE!

Ugh! I just looked at some old DVDs, undoubtedly originally from someone's VHS tapes from Odyssey, of season 12. Horrible edits...horrible quality!

Most edits are at the beginning, immediately after the producer/writer/director credits. These credits are most often a long shot of LA Freeways or a fountain, dissolving to the Douglas house. The bad thing is, after the edit, it almost always jumps to some other location.

From that syndication bible (and what a local TV 40 station manager told me), it seems that Paramount/CBS sends out full network versions. I'd have to hope that's the case with S12, and the edits were done by Odyssey network. If MeTV gets network versions, their edits HAVE to be better!

One other thing: from what TV Guy said in another thread, an intro exists on the original versions, which shows Dawn Lyn and Ronne Troup in the credits, and omits Don Grady. Also, these versions probably have Fred saying, "Hi! Welcome to our show." Since I can't get onto Facebook, could someone copy this to Facebook and get this to MeTV? I'd like to see if they can get hold of these corrected opening credits.

Smile I See Steve

Nick At Nite in the early '90's (when Nick At Nite was worth watching) used to show some season 12 episodes and you do see Steve open the program (before the theme plays) by saying "Hi, welcome to our show." If Nick had these openings I hope it means that ME TV will have them too, ASSUMING that is that ME TV will indeed even show Season 11 & 12, which at this point is still highly doubtful.

Supposedly, someone on Facebook saw that MeTV says they have ALL the episodes...we'll see. Whatever N@N showed HAD to be better than what Odyssey did to these episodes. Assuming they take these showings beyond Summer of ME, I'd hope after season 5, that they skip right to season 11.

When TV 40 here showed M3S years ago, starting with the season 10 episodes, they had Fred saying, "Hi, welcome to our show." I have a few Columbia House tapes (I think) where he says, "Hi, welcome to our show for Hunt's Foods". So, he probably cut a lot of those openers, depending on the sponsor.

It would be really great to have all of the openings properly restored from all seasons, like Fred saying "Hi! Welcome to our show for [sponsor]." Or at least the shorter / truncated tag. And the correct announcer, or lack thereof as originally presented.

One thing that really bothers me for seasons around 6 or 7 is that an opening with obvious debris down the center pops up pretty frequently. This is something that shouldn't happen, as a better copy needs to be used as a replacement.

Really like the Family Affair treatment where we had Johnnie Whitaker and Anissa Jones before the open, and Sebastian Cabot at the close. Good stuff.

Also the end credits from around seasons 6 to 8 are truncated (sped up with edits, music changed)--I'm seeing that on some of the season 3 episodes now, too.
