I second that! I've always hated those commercials.

Good. It's disgusting. Kids are watching. And not only that they're disgusting ads.

Would be nice if most of the drug ads just stop already.

TV

I read the reason these reason these ads are getting yanked isn't because of what bodily function they deal with (That's sex for those of you in rio linda! ) but because the patents are about to expire (If they haven't done so already). IIRC the ads for both of these prescription drugs made their debut (along with a third pill called Levitra) during the 2004 Super Bowl (I can't help but wonder how many people, (ESPECIALLY those who's children were watching the game with their parents) stared at the TV screen when these commercials were first aired!). CBS and their affiliate Stations were probably getting calls from irate parents long before that infamous halftime show "wardrobe malfunction" occurred. . OK back to the subject. The pharmaceutical companies who "invent" a pill have a patent that gives them the EXCLUSIVE rights for them to market this elixir for about 14 years before the patent ends and any company who can manufacture the generic version can also market them. While the patent applies the pharmaceutical company that invented this drug MAKES THE MOST MONEY off of it, and whenever two or more companies are making competing products the competition is CUTTHROAT. Five will get you ten these pills will be replaced with some new concoction will be fore a subject just as controversial as the one these pills were for. But let's face it. 99.999% come to this site to lament about an ad that gets us STEAMED. Life goes on. I thank God I've found a way to circumvent these abominable types of ads whenever I watch "Appointment TV" (There are those who will record a live program, then begin watching it an hour after the show begins, hitting the "fast-forward" button on their DVR (or whatever recording device they are using) so they can skip the ads, or reach for the refute control. finger on the MUTE button, ready to blot out the ad as soon as they recognise it as an ad they don't desire to see.). Advertisers HATE this with a passion. I have some advice for them.

1. Present your product your product in a "Kinder, Gentler" fashion. IMHO this is equally as bad as commercials for a product that deals with "bodily functions". STOP INSULTING US and you will find us more recptive to your ad, a company might just see more people BUYING your product.

2. Those of you who's products deal with a controversial subject. STOP AIRING YOUR ADS when children are most likely to be watching TV. Confine your commercials to times when children are LEAST LIKELY to be in front of a TV set, such as late at night (10:00 PM to 6:00AM) or at times when children are most likely to be in school (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Mid-August to Early June). Is my system perfect? OF COURSE NOT! but it should work 95+%. I'll rest my case with a phrase I heard during a 1950's science-fiction movie, The Day The Earth Stood Still Before the Alien returns to his home world he tells about how things are done on his planet, and says "I'm not saying we've achieved perfection, but we have a system, and it works". I am not perfect, none of us are, but in this world if we can do something and have in an approval in the high 90s percent we are doing as good as we can. I now rest my case.

PS, Feel free to print a rebuttal if you disagree (This a free country after all!) , and let's face it, we are less than six months to an even-numbered year, and you know what that means!.

GOOD!! Yeah I wish they would ban them for all sports! Very embarrassing seeing those kind of ads when you are watching TV with your elderly Father!!! Last time I visited back east that happened, we were watching sports and here we go with THOSE commercials!

Yeah, it's good that Viagra and Cialis are going to stop advertising on football games.

Because that's what beer and booze is for.

Just kidding.

The drinking should be reserved for all Cleveland Clowns games.

I've boycotted American Football because of my home team...and they aren't even a team! 31 NFL Teams...and the Clowns aren't one!

Just ban all of the drug ads at least on the sports channels.
