Hi everyone. I’m organizing a Trivia Night charity event for my local parish. One of the categories I’m trying to have is “Series finales.” I was wondering if anyone knows what the last 4 or 5 lines of the final episode were and what the scene was? Any help you can give me will be great. Thank you in advance.

Gosh... I don't remember the final lines of the show, but I do recall what happened. It turned out the whole series had been a dream (a la Dallas!)... Dick wakes up in bed with Suzanne Pleshette, who played his wife in the original Newhart series from the 70s!!! It had to be one of the most classic series ending episodes of all time! I hope someone can help you with the exact lines, though!!!

What happened was that Japanese investors came and bought the entire town except for the Inn ( Dick refused to sell ) and turned it into a golf course. One day Dick is hit in the head by a golf ball and is knocked uncounsious. Wnen he comes to he is in bed with Emily ( Suzanne Pleashette-his co-star on The Bob Newhart Show ) and realizes the whole thing was a dream. He explains his dream to Emily-I owned an Inn...There were these three woodsmen but only one talked...etc. concluding with the Japanese buyout. Then Emily said "that's it Bob no more Japanese food before bedtime." Lights out and end of show.

Wow, Marvo!!! You actually did remember the last line of the show!!! Pretty awesome!!! It was a very classic ending to a fantastic show!!!
