Is the movie 21 based on a true story?

When I was watching the movie 21 I discovered in the movie intro that the movie 21 was inspired and based on a true story and I would like to know if it is true? I also know that the movie 21 is based on a book as well. I am a fan of actor Jim Sturgess and I got the movie 21 because of Jim Sturgess

As always w/ most movies "based on true events", most of the real-life story was changed or dramaticized for the movie. The movie is based on the book Bringing Down the House.

The MIT Blackjack Team were mostly Asian-American and no college professors (Kevin Spacey's character) were involved. Real-life members of the MIT team appear in small cameos as card dealers. I know one of them was that Asian dealer at that underground gambling room.

!!! Wow !!! I didn't even know that fact about the movie 21 and learning that the movie 21 was based on the book Bringing Down The House was shocking and surprising to me. I mainly liked the movie 21 because I have liked actor Jim Sturgess and I have liked him ever since he provided the voice of Soren in the movie Legend Of The Guardians The Owls Of Gahoole and Jim is so cute in the movie 21
