Most disciplinarian moms - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

There is a thread or at least certain people's comments about how tough Ann Romano was with her daughters Julie and Barbara , at least in certain episodes.

But I think that the most disciplinarian mom ever depicted (or according to the extent that I have watched TV shows) is the one on "That's My Momma."
She was almost always beating her son in some episode. She was like the female James Evans and I guess the show just was fashioned after "Good Times" to a great extent.

Most moms on TV were depicted as gentle, or at least the one that is NOT the disciplinarian of the household. I don't think that Carol Brady ever punished any of her kids nor was it indicated that she did, and Mr Brady only punished his boys (never the girls) by giving gentle pats on the butt or the head.
If it was a single mom depicted like Julia or Mrs Partridge the mom still was not primarily a disciplinarian.

More psychological than any sense of physical punishment but Howard Sprague's mother. Guilt and his unwavering loyalty was her "belt".

I guess I might have to go back and watch some episodes again, but I don't remember that at all. Her kids were both grown.

There is an episode in The Cosby Show where Vanassa ran off to some rock concert in Maryland (from New York City, several hundred miles) and for some reason (arrested?) Claire and Cliff had to rescue her, and when they came home Claire wanted to kill her and you can see the venom coming out and the only reason Vanessa didnt get her ass beat was because Cliff held her back.
