Why hasn't the Smurfs been released in full on DVD? This has to be one of the most popular cartoons of all-time and with the recent updated movies in the past few years, you'd think they'd capitalize on that and release the original series.
I'd love to own the complete series on DVD. |

Would love to own it too, used to watch it as a kid on Saturday mornings, then more recently in re runs. Holds up well, fun show.
Even remember playing The Smurfs game on SEGA Genesis. |

Licensing issues between Peyo and Warner in the US. The complete series is available in Australia in a beautiful book-style package or as single seasons.

Did you grow up in Europe or Brazil? Because those are the only countries the Smurfs game for Sega megadrive (genesis) was actually officially released. Unless you had some bootleg cart or sega channel if you lived in the US |

Maybe it was the way it was marketed in the US. I think the first season was split into two volumes: $20 a pop. I don't think it sold well for Generation X.
