Bill Cosby Plans Youth Education Tour after his Sexual Assault Mistrial
by The Associated Press June 22, 2017 Bill Cosby will organize a series of town hall meetings to help educate young people about problems their misbehavior could create, a spokesman for the entertainer said Thursday. Cosby is eager to get back to work following a deadlocked jury and mistrial in his sexual assault trial, spokesman Andrew Wyatt told Birmingham, Ala., TV station WBRC. "We'll talk to young people. Because this is bigger than Bill Cosby. You know, this, this issue can affect any young person, especially young athletes of today," said Wyatt. "And they need to know what they're facing when they're hanging out and partying, when they're doing certain things they shouldn't be doing." "And it also affects married men," added Wyatt, without elaborating. "Is it kind of a, 'Do as I say, not as I do' situation?" the newscaster asked, but it was unclear if Wyatt heard and responded to the question. Wyatt didn't immediately reply to an interview request Thursday from the Associated Press. The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, an anti-sexual violence organization known as RAINN, responded to Cosby's announced plans. "It would be more useful if Mr. Cosby would spend time talking with people about how not to commit sexual assault in the first place," RAINN spokeswoman Jodi Omear said in a statement. Also taking part in the TV interview was Wyatt associate Ebonee Benson, who had read comments from Cosby's wife, Camille, slamming prosecutors after the trial's end last weekend in Norristown, Pa. "Laws are changing," Benson said Thursday. "The statute of limitations for victims of sexual assault are being extended. So this is why people need to be educated on a brush against the shoulder, you know anything at this point can be considered sexual assault. And it's ... a good thing to be educated about the law." http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/new...strial-1016226 |

Bill Cosby Publicist Says Upcoming Tour not about Sexual Assault; Tells CNN That Media is to Blame
by Greg Evans June 25, 2017 Bill Cosby’s publicity team is now saying that the comedian’s upcoming town hall tour most definitely is not about sexual assault, but rather about “the restoration of his legacy.” And they’re blaming the media for getting it wrong in the first place. On this morning’s "CNN New Day Weekend", Cosby publicist Ebonee Benson told "New Day" co-host Christi Paul, “The town hall meetings are not about sexual assault. I will repeat. These town hall meetings are not about sexual assault.” “When we initially talked about the town hall meetings,” Benson said, “it was about restoration of legacy, much to what Mrs. Cosby spoke on in her statement is the sensationalism brought on by the media. This is another example of that. To take something meant to talk about the restoration of this man’s legacy that was destroyed by the media before he even had a chance to step into the courtroom. That’s what this is about.” Except, of course, that’s not how Team Cosby earlier described the planned tour. As Paul’s co-host Victor Blackwell noted, “That does not match at all what she and her colleague told an interviewer on Thursday.” http://deadline.com/2017/06/bill-cos...ay-1202119709/ |

"Benson herself had said, “So, this why people need to be educated on a brush against the shoulder. You know, anything at this point could be considered sexual assault. It’s very — it’s a good thing to be educated about the law.”
Yes, because I know every time a man "brushes my shoulder" I immediately file a criminal case against him for sexual assault. ![]() Of course the proposed tour was going to be about men protecting themselves from us "wicked women" who just want their money, and are always out to get them. But once they felt the full force of public outrage, they had to change their rhetoric. |
