How come Cliff and Clair did not hire a butler to clean the house up?

Why come with all the cash and easy life they both cliff and clair successful people had cant speak for there kids since they were living off there parents they were poor lol, why come they did not hire a butler or a maid to help clean a house and mentor the kids so they wont get into trouble ???

Cliff didn't even have a real gynecologist/obstetrics office, he operated out of his basement. Lots of weird stuff went on down there most likely.
