Default Familynet replaced by The Cowboy Channel

http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/thread...july-1.678917/

Glad I didn't switch to Dish network just to get Familynet.

This is horrible. I had dropped Sling TV a while back but I discovered they just recently added FamilyNet and I was thinking about getting it again but now that this is happening I won't be getting it. This really sucks because FamilyNet is one of the few channels that doesn't crunch credits. I wanted to see Archie Bunker's Place, Benson, and Silver Spoons. I have no interest in the Cowboy Channel.

Why? Just why does this have to happen? This doesn't need to be changed and should've been left the way it is.

this is horrible news - I don't get Familynet, but it is sad to see a channel that shows classic sitcoms in a reasonable format replaced by an endless loop of tired old movies and westerns already available on other channels

I don't mind watching a western show occasionally, but for me a little of that stuff goes a long way. MeTV has been airing episodes of the late 1950's western series titled Trackdown, starring Robert Culp, I'd never heard of the show before but watched it yesterday and thought it was OK.

It doesn't surprise me that Comcast doesn't carry Familynet (I just checked). But they have room for all kinds of junk that no one watches.

I've never heard of it either but it sounds pretty self-explanatory.

I know there is channel called The Western Channel. Maybe they mean that.

I've gotten into one called Have Gun, Will Travel, w/the late great Richard Boone, and it's so good (at least IMO) that I've seen two full seasons' worth of it on DVD.

Either there's a really high demand for western-themed channels, or it's just another way to make more cheap programming.

Once this goes into effect, the only favorite retro shows I'll be able to see on the regular are ALF (MeTV), The Greatest American Hero (Heroes & Icons), and Sanford & Son (TV One).

I'm on Uverse, and they don't carry any digital subchannels. Family Net was my haven for TV I used to watch as a kid. Shame. Hopefully the Sony shows get picked up elsewhere.

I'm not happy about this one either. The new channel does not seem to have any programming I would find appealing. We really enjoy the Barney Miller reruns. Maybe another channel will fill the void. Antenna TV already carries All in the Family; maybe they'll do the same for Barney Miller (currently only on the weekend).

Madderest

Since I can't get Me-TV or Antenna TV, FamilyNet has been my favorite channel for several years now.

The Cowboy channel, yee-ha!
