Angry Anti Gary Coleman Trailer Back On Trouble

If anyone remembers, a couple of months ago it was mentioned that Trouble were showing an anti Gary Coleman trailer to advertise Diff'rent Strokes. Some of us wrote off and complined and then it dissapeared.

However, I was watching Trouble earlier this afternoon and for some reason, it's back.

For anyone who can't remember from last time, it featurres a lot of black and white pictures of Gary Coleman looking happy and smiling whilst the narrator says things like "lost millions" and "suid parents" etc.

I am really annoyed that Trouble have brought this back. The thing that I also can't understand is how showing this could possibly influence people into watching the show. They already spoil the show by skipping loads of episodes, and now they do this.

What I thought we could maybe do is if everyone posts on this thread, then I could E-Mail Trouble and show them all the comments and hopefully they can take it off this time, for good.

Angry Re: Trouble

Hi, Chris. I can't believe they brought that trailer back! And after people complained. What idiots. Just goes to prove my theory that the station is run by a bunch of morons.

I've pretty much boycotted that channel now. The only time I watch it is for "That 70s Show", "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air", "Two Guys and a Girl" and "In The House". If it weren't for those shows, Trouble would be banned altogether in my house. I hate them. Their treatment of Diff'rent Strokes and Gary makes me so angry.

Maybe the commericial is trying to do a parody of the E! True Hollywood Story thing? Who knows. People can be so cruel and mean these days....

Nick At Nite wasn't as cruel as Trouble but they did do a similar thing with Gary Coleman. During the closing credits of the Brady Bunch the Nick At Nite announcer would say "Next up, Diff'rent Strokes, with that wonderful Gary Coleman." Then they would play a sample of a young Gary Colemans voice saying "Not to mention weird. Hahahaha..." Does anyone else remember this?

This type of thing just shows me the hypocracy in the world. I mean the thing I don't understand is that they skip episodes for controversy, but their allowed to play a clip basically making fun of someones life being ruined. It seems to me that instead of someone getting upset over an episode that uses a little dirty language, they should be getting upset over a tv station making fun of the misfortunes of others. I'm totally with you Jethro, i'm not even from the UK, but I agree that making fun of the misfortune's of other's is just plain WRONG!

I expressed my dislike of the 'Coleman downfall' campaign by sending emails, which were read and replied to byTrouble, the first time around. I was glad that they stopped the adds, and am disgusted that they have brought them back

There was another thing on Trouble today that really bugged me-

They were doing an advert for the show "City Guys" and they had set the advert out in the same way of the credit sequence of Sex and The City. Then at the end they said "Sex and the city guys."

Okay, so they are doing an advert with refrences to Sex and The City, a show that featurres a lot of sex in every episode and is aimed at adults- yet they refuse to air the Diff'rent Strokes episode were Willis and Charlene nearly have sex?
I mean that just totally doesn't add up.

I also saw that advert of Gary Coleman again today and at the end the narrator says something like "watch Gary Coleman when he was a God, Well a God of..." and then it says a word beginning with D that I couldn't make out but I'm pretty sure it was offensive.

If a few more people write on this page, I'll E-Mail the link to Trouble tommorow and ask them what the hell they think they're playing at!

the word beginning with "D" was "Demi".. so it was "Demi God".. it just means not quite god.

You would think that a network which paid for the rights to air the show wouldn't irritate its viewers. That doesn't make sense.

That's similar to what I told them in my emails. They defended their adds as not bashing Gary Coleman but actuallly claiming that the adds were complimentary, which from what I hear (I haven't seen them because I live in the US) is not true by any stretch. So it seems that they're being rather stubborn about this. I wonder if they've gotten any letters or callls saying "Great adds, Trouble! Keep up the good work!" Maybe you folks in the UK should take Robert Tilton's advice and call Trouble.

That would be a good idea to call them but unfortunetly there are no phone detalis.

I'm planning to E-Mail them tommorow with a link to this post. I'll just make one final point against them, they showed 2 fresh Prince episodes this week- one with taking drugs and one with a gun and they wouldn't show either DS episodes of those storylines.
