I'd pick Mel. He has the gruff exterior, but he's really a soft, old teddy bear, and quite lovable!

I totally agree!!! I voted Mel too! I don't think the show would have been the same without him! He was BORN to play Mel!!! I couldn't think of any other actor who would have been as good a Mel as him!!

I LOVE that show, and I really like all the actors!!! Esp. Vera, Alice, Flo, Tommy, All of them!!! And lately they were showing the later seasons and I just LOVE Vera's Hubby Elliot. He's adorable! I kind of have a little crush on him now! And Mel too! As I posted before as I am older now, Mel is hot now IMO!!!

And I love Debbie Walden! Vera's landlady, also played by Linda Lavin as an older Jewish lady!! She is HILARIOUS!!!! She was on today and I was LMAO!!!

And I also love Henry, the sweet bespectacled loyal Mel's diner customer!!!

One of today's episodes of Alice was about Mel training Jolene for the women's basketball team, and when Mel and Jolene started kissing, I thought it was cute. I agree that Mel was kinda hot. I would have dated him definitely! I also agree that Elliot Novack was adorable. Vera really got a good, cute guy for a husband. She totally lucked out and she surely deserved it. I liked how in the very last episode she found out she was pregnant. She even decided to name her first born MELVIN!!!

Yeah!! I saw that today!!! I usually work on Wed. afternoons but today I was off and I got a treat by getting to see Alice!!! That was really sweet when Mel and Jolene were kissing! And I was like Oh, lucky girl!! I'd like to kiss him! And when Alice and Vera walked in on them in the diner and caught them kissing, the expressions on their faces!!! Yeah girls, Jolene knew what was up, Mel was hot and had a sweet side to his grumpy self !!!


And the ep where Elliot quit the Police force and tried to be a salesman and than became a "house husband" !! He was ADORABLE!!!! Elliot is a total cutie pie!!!

And when Debbie Walden rented that room from Vera and Elliot and had that bingo game going!! I was CRACKING UP laughing!! That was really funny!

Awwww!! Than the last ep.!!! So sentimental!!!! I was getting tears in my eyes!!

Tomorrow, back to the beginning!!! Flo will be back, but no Elliot yet!!!

When they were showing flashbacks of little Tommy entering the diner, I got very sentimental and emotional. I loved how Tommy told Mel that he was like a second dad to him.

Yeah!! That was cute!!! Tommy was a really cool, fun kid, who grew into a really nice, good looking young man!!!

Phillip McKeon was a great choice for Tommy! He was a natural. right from the start he was a really good child actor and very believable in the role of a boy being raised by a widowed Mother! Even though he really didn't look much like Linda Lavin/Alice he was very believable as her son!!!

I remember when Alice's mother-in-law had all those pictures of Tommy's deceased father. He was also a good looking blonde, so Tommy must have gotten his blonde good looks from his dad. Tommy was really a nice looking kid. It was nice to see him go from a little child to a full grown man. He got very handsome. I think he was about 21 when the show ended, and he was about 12 when the show started. He was a good boy who really loved and respected his mother.

Yeah!! Totally! And the good thing was he was a believable kid!!! He was cool. He wasn't overly well behaved, nerdy or annoying. But he wasn't a bad kid either. He was very likable and cute and grew into a good looking young man , but wasn't conceited! A very nice, modest, believable son!!

Philip McKeon's sister Nancy was on the show at least twice... once when the orphans were getting a charity dinner at Mel's diner and another time when she played the daughter of a guy that Alice was dating on Halloween.


Nancy and Philip are only one year apart. They do look a lot alike despite the fact that Philip is blonde and Nancy is brunette.

That was another plus! Linda and Phillip both having very strong East coast accents made it very believable they were Mother and Son!
