Anyone watch it? It was pretty good, and neat to see all the clips from the versions that don't regularly air. But boy, there's a reason why they don't show those episodes from the 1960s -- from what I could see, they're pretty bad. Number one, they're shot on videotape rather than film, and look pretty cheap. And second, the sound quality is awful -- there's a tremendous echo going on, and it sounds like the shows were recorded in someone's garage. The specials from the 1970s just look sad and pathetic -- the cast was just way too old to still be playing the characters at that point.

It's sad to say but, I had to agree with you. The episodes of the 50's were way, way better. It was good to see the first Alice Kramden. I had never seen her before. Also I don't care for Kevin James but, he did do a good impression of Ralph.

I agree w/both of you...obviously, they don't call 'em the "Classic 39" for nothing...
I thought the special was pretty good too...the only thing that annoys me when they do these type of specials is having today's celebrities lecture us on what made a particular show great...I mean, I don't need Dennis Franz and Tom Hanks telling me how great the Honeymooners was! I know they were great! And I know WHY they were great...it's because they were FUNNY! And don't you love how, when these celebrity "experts" try to explain their favorite scenes or episodes, they NEVER get the facts straight? Dennis Franz was describing some scene or episode (I forget which one) and I remember thinking, "Dennis, have you ever actually WATCHED this show??". I'm amazed that today's celebrities can't even describe what is supposedly their FAVORITE scenes and episodes even REMOTELY accurately! |

OMGoodness you are soooo right. I can tell everyone bit by bit my favorite episode. Maybe they're too busy acting to get the facts straight!
