I thought thing was always handy to have around. He could play checkers, arm wrestle, and would always be happy to give a visitor his or her hat before leaving the premises.

Yeah I think thing would be pretty cool! I mean like you could really freak some people out with that thing (no pun intended hehehe). Like did you see the Adams family the movie? Where the granny pretended that thing was her hand and then she ripped him off and she was like screaming? That was Hilarious!

Hey Thing is great! The perfect servant..It can do things for you and doesn't need to be fed, paid, etc. He is good at communicating too. His sign language is a bit rusty though. He always has his morse code...Ha!Kathy

Thing was a HANDy little servant to have around the house-and it would always be a treat to see him popping up from whatever box he could at the time.
I was surprised to learn that Ted Cassidy- also Lurch-was Thing in most of the shots. (not all because there were scenes with Lurch and Thing together.I recall one where Thing showed Lurch how to eliminate the Robot-Butler...and as Lurch said,"Thaannk you, Thing!"I detected real emotion there. ------------------ Richard Ranke |

Thing was my fav character, but I liked him much better in the box than just a HAND running around.
I know just the hand is a good effect, but I think he's much more mysterious in the box, b/c I always used to think he was some sort of "creature" and all you could see was his hand. When I was little always wondered what the rest of him looked like. So maybe he does eat. Even the hand in the new show drank some how. |

During the closing credits of the original series, it always said "Thing" was played by "Itself" .
