Wow....that drunk guy is a cab driver in Mayfield (Beaver's House Guest, Bus Trip) I wonder if he was there to pick up a fare.
That Mr. Gregory was a bad tempered, impulsive twit. He knew that Wally was a responsible adult but yet throws him out of the house without any explanation. Wonder why Wally didn't take Julie or Mary Ellen to such an important dance. I know we needed a new girl whose father never met reliable Wally. |

That would be funny if it was the same character, his not getting paid the fare, led to a life as a drunk.

Mr. Gregory was like that father of the girls who were having a sleepover (Mr. Rogers?) when Wally tried to deliver the ice cream. He yelled and had a fit, then I think he opened the door and threw ice cream containers out, probably at Wally.

This episode always brings back fond memories for me. I was that nervous young man with jacket and tie going on a first date with a new girl, sitting in the living room and being "observed" by the parents, anxiously waiting for the girl to come down the stairs so I could get out of there! I'm sure that archaic ritual is not practiced by today's teens. The one thing I find unusual is why is Wally taking a new girl in school to the senior prom? I'm sure Wally went through grade school and high school with Maryellen Rodgers and Julie Foster and even Shirley. I'm sure they all would be quite upset if Wally took Kathy!

or Julie Foster. What must she have thought? (Maybe she decided she liked mustaches so she went back to to Wayne Gregory).

I know Julie went back to Wayne even though he had transferred to Buchanan High. Maryellen decided she really loved Dudley's piano playing and after he learned to dance went with him.
Did you notice Lumpy and Eddie's dates were not really considered. I thought Eddie would have taken his steady sweater knitter, Cindy. Boy how things change in the Love department at Mayfield High. |
