I remember from other forums, a lot of people don't like this episode.

I think it's a pretty good episode. Such typical behavior from a young teenager. I remember (around that age, and older, unfortunately) yelling at my parents, "I'm not speaking to you!"

I agree about it being typical behavior. I think it was written in a realistic manner, with Beaver ignoring June outright for a change.

Still, it wasn't a very enjoyable episode IMO, probably for those very reasons.

I think from what I remember of previous posts, a lot of people seems to idealize Beaver, and can't cope with him acting this way. I agree with PA above, it certainly isn't the best episode.

One thing about LITB, for me--this is probably the only sitcom that I won't tune out a single episode of--they're all watchable.

I was one of the few people on here that thought Beaver acted realistically as a bratty teen in this episode. The way other talked I guess they were perfect angels in their youth. Good to see I'm not alone.

How come I don't remember this ep. ? I'm sure I would if I saw it. I've seen all LITB eps. millions of times! I just can't place this one?

BG-In this episode, Beaver wants to go with Wally and Eddie, I think to work on Eddie's car radio. As they're about to leave, June comes out and makes Beaver go to the store for her. Beaver is not happy. He decides to give her the silent treatment. He plays up to dad and is cool to mom. Ward doesn't notice at first, but June does. When she points it out to Ward, initially he brushes it off. Beaver keeps it up, and eventually he checks on the freshly painted porch furniture. A bee lands in the paint, and he tries to pick it off the paint. It stings him, and he goes running to June. She fixes him up, and they have a heart to heart.

Yeah Beaver was a spoiled teenager. I think it bothers me because I'm a mother and hated how this creepy kid treated his mother with such contempt. I would have said something to him about his behavior but she just lets it go on. Not until he's stung does he run to mommy (not daddy) for help. I guess June was very patient waiting for Beaver to come around.

Wally once again acts like he's co-parenting telling Ward what Beaver is doing.

Good point about June. I think the only time I remember her meting out any punishment is in the Brussels Sprouts episode (and she bungled that one). In this instance she could have grounded him, but she would have been more likely to have had Ward do it.

The more I think about this, most of the time she seemed scared to deal with her sons. Remember in June's Birthday, she was about to go upstairs to talk to the Beaver, and then had second thoughts--she'd have Ward do it. And Wally told her there was nothing to be afraid of--he was just a little kid.
