Default LITB DVD's

Anyone have them? I have a question about an episode. There's a scene where June and Ward are criticizing each other's dates from the old days and I wondered which episode it was in, they always cut it out. Ward makes fun of a guy June dated with a funny nose and June does the same. They are standing in the living room behind the sofa talking about it in the later seasons. I keep thinking it was Beaver's Big Contest.

I think this is the episode you're thinking of...I hauled out the DVD (everybody thinks these DVDs are the greatest...on my copies, the video wavers a little, and I got my direct from Shout Factory)...anyway (dissolve from scene where Eddie is telling the Beaver they'll take the prize away if he wins)--Ward is checking the record player, and hollers, "June, who's been at my hi-fi? There's a record on here." She explains she was listening to some opera I can't spell (Excerpts from Lucia?). Then they talk a little about the raffle, then he says, "Lucia, huh? I bet you saw it with your Aunt Martha." She: "No, I think I saw it with Freddy Rice." He: "That's the one with the fish eyes." She: "Freddy DID NOT have fish eyes." He: "Oh, of course not. He had the big ears and the donkey laugh. I can never keep track of that menagerie of yours." She: "May I bring up Genevieve Dunlap?" He: "Uh, please don't." (Boy I don't remember this dialogue at all!)(Dissolve to Ward fixing lamp) (Now we have a couple of more of their old flames' names.) As long as I have these DVDs out, now I'm going to check on Beaver's Accordion, to see if that dialogue "I hope they don't hit us" is on that episode.

On the "I hope they don't hit us" line, which I though was on Beaver's Accordion, it appears not to be. The dissolves appear to be clean, with no edits. He is going to the freight office with Whitey. I thought the "I hope they don't hit us" line was with Gilbert. I know it exists, yet I haven't seen it lately. Boy, this bugs me!

There is also something that bugs me from the season 3 episode about June's Birthday. I'll eventually do another thread about that.

I don't know about greatest, but I've had no problems with any of my DVDs.

You've got me curious about the "I hope they don't hit us", it does sound familiar.

This is a line in an episode (I thought Beaver's Accordion) where Beaver and I thought Gilbert were going back to the post office to return something. On the way out Beaver (or Gilbert) says, "I hope they don't hit us." On another thread I said I thought this dialogue had nothing to do with anything, and didn't understand the reason for that line. I know I've heard it, but not anymore. It may be from some other episode but I can't figure out which one...

Thanks so much for pulling out your DVD's and checking out the June Ward discussion about old boy/girlfriends. I remember that, Freddie Rice, fish eyes and Genevieve Dunlap. They loved the name, Dunlap. Dorothea Dunlap who fainted in assembly and they almost called Dunlap because there was water in the basement in The Clubhouse. Thanks so much and wonder why even MeTV edits it out.

Now about "I hope they don't hit us. I always thought Whitey said that in Beaver's Accordion but could it be in Community Chest? They are about to embark on collecting money and Gilbert says I hope they don't hit us. I know he's apprehensive about asking for money especially when Beaver practices when they come to the door. That one or when Beaver and Gilbert are cutting lawns. Wait maybe it was in Beaver's Birthday when he gets a notice there's a registered letter at the post office, Gilbert might said "I hope they don't hit us."

Thanks...I will check those.

Well...you're a genius. This episode was on not too long ago...it IS in Beaver's Birthday. Beaver says it to Gilbert. I don't recall seeing that episode (recently), although I watch every morning.

Now I at least know what episode that stupid line is in!

Speaking of Community Chest, Gilbert has a funny line in that one. After the money can has fallen out of Beaver's pocket, he asks Gilbert when he stopped jingling. Gilbert says something like, I don't all the time listen to when you're jingling or not jingling.

MeTV actually showed this scene today.

They sure did and remembered the discussion we had. I knew it was Beaver's Big Contest. They always edit it out just like in Beaver's IQ when he asks June about women only marrying as a career and they can only be dressmakers, babysitters and such. June tells him women have careers now.

In Beaver Becomes A Hero, they edited out the whole scene where the kid whose father was a reporter was telling his dad about the "rescue", and the dad said it would be an interesting article. They also edited out the dialog where Beaver said they spelled his name wrong in the paper.

Most of their edits aren't bad, and aren't obvious, like they are in so many other 50s shows.

One other thing: June was annoying, again, in this episode. Beaver had gone through the whole problem with W&J the previous evening, yet at the breakfast table, she was saying she didn't realize it was such a big problem to Beaver.

They must be reading these posts because they showed that, too.

I wonder too if they read these posts. Hey I love to see a scene that I haven't seen in a long time on MeTV. I don't have the DVD's so it's kinda neat.

In Community Chest I think Gilbert says "I hope they don't throw water on us." Before collecting money.
