Jamie Foxx makes his game show debut with Fox's Beat Shazam - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I saw a preview for a new game show that's gonna be on Fox that's gonna be hosted by actor/singer Jamie Foxx that's gonna be named Beat Shazam and is gonna start this Thursday. From what I saw of the preview Beat Shazam seems like a rip-off of Name That Tune and it seems that Fox got inspiration to do this game show from Name That Tune. The top prize that the teams of contestants can win is a million dollar prize and I think Fox will have a hit on their hands with Beat Shazam and I think music based game shows will make a huge comeback to TV

I saw part of the debut episode of Fox's Beat Shazam and from what I saw of it it seems that the show is a mix of Name That Tune Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and The Chase with a music theme and the format and gameplay of Beat Shazam is one of the most confusing parts of any game show i've seen. Take for instance why does Beat Shazam have two teams of contestants playing and I think the show would've been better with a single player format. I also disliked how they designed the music categories and Beat Shazam should've had more songs in the categories and that would make the game more awesome to watch. The final round of Beat Shazam seems very easy to win and full of songs that I knew and seems like a rip-off of The Chase with the fictional character Shazam playing a music expert version of Mark Labbett. Jamie Foxx on his hosting debut of Beat Shazam is the worst host I've seen in history and I had known him from the movie Ray but on Beat Shazam he seems to have fun rather than hosting the show and someone like Carlos Alazaraqui or Will Smith would have been a better fit for Beat Shazam. Jamie Foxx also seems to have a cohost who goes by the name of October who mainly is the DJ on the show and they should've let October be a singer like Kathie Lee Gifford when she was on Name That Tune. So while it seems that Fox may have a top game show hit on their hands I doubt Beat Shazam will last long and be cancelled after four episodes

Hi Bestie! I think Shazam is just "Name That Tune" but the producers were too cheap to buy the rights to the name, so they called it Shazam and added some confusing categories to it. I do not like it. Foxx would be a good host of a real Name that Tune game show, but he is now just a lame host on a third rate knock off! I say 3 episodes and it is gone! (Remember in Name That Tune the one who guesses the song in the fewest notes wins? Anybody here want to say 2 episodes and it is gone? LOL!)

If guessing a song can make you a millionaire why am I still doing here?

But seriously I caught the debut episode, it was ok nothing ground breaking, it was fun trying to play along and guessing although on occasion I would fumble on more recent songs from the 00's.

I think I plan to give Beat Shazam a second chance mainly because I found out Jamie Foxx who hosts the show is Joe Gardner from Disney's Soul and I am so happy to see Joe host and watch him beyond Soul
