I recently got a song named I Like To Get To Know You that was sung by a 60's band named Spanky And Our Gang and I would like to know whatever happened to this band. I do know that this band got it's name because the lead female singer was a fan of The Our Gang shows and that the first song that Spanky And Our Gang had that became their signature song was Sunday Will Never Be The Same and then released a song called Lazy Day and then they somehow disappeared and the lead singer died in 1998
Do you remember this band? Bestie |

I remember them and liked them a lot. "Sunday Will Never Be The Same" and "Lazy Day" are also really nice. This thread is a good reminder to me to look them up as I haven't in a while. I thinK Spanky still sings here and there and I know at least one member of "The Gang" has passed.

Right up there with The Mamas & The Papas. Got albums by both groups that I haven't played in a whi..oh, I think it's been many years. A good reminder, indeed. Thanks, Bestie.

Spanky And Our Gang also released a cover of Nilsson's Everybody's Talking that is also a great cover song. It's great to discover facts about 60's groups that are fun to learn

I like their music. There was a lot of good stuff coming out in the late 60's through the early 70's what I call easy, breezy songs that are very pretty and fun to sing along to.

I thought they were very underrated, this is my favorite song by them.

Spanky And Our Gang was a group definitely a product of it's time, late 1960's. Classic folk rock sound. Sunday Will Never Be The Same is my favorite song of theirs but Lazy Day and Like To Get To Know You are OK too.

Here's two rarities from S&OG...
This one is when they're very light on their song... This one here is strong...and the message is timeless... |

Spanky And Our Gang were popular in the late 60's when I was in high school. They are very underrated and almost forgotten. Too bad. They had some really good songs! My favorite is "Like to Get to Know You".
