AMC Renews "The Son" for 2nd Season
AMC Renews "The Son" for Season 2
by Cory Barker May 12, 2017 AMC must have felt left out in all the upfront hysteria. The network today renewed Pierce Brosnan's "The Son" for a 10-episode second season. Based on Philipp Meyer's best-selling novel of the same name, "The Son" is a generational sweeping saga about a the McCulloughs, a Texas ranching and oil family. Brosnan stars as patriarch Eli in the primary timeline, while Jacob Lofland plays the younger Eli in flashbacks. The two are joined in the cast by Henry Garrett, Sydney Lucas, Carlos Bardem and Zahn McClarnon. While the TV adaptation eliminates one of the timelines present in Meyer's book, the network and showrunner Kevin Murphy have expressed a desire to get there eventually. 10 more episodes will help inch the show closer to achieving that goal. Renewal news comes just a bit past halfway in "The Son's" first season, which is doing quite well for AMC on Saturdays. The show is averaging 2.3 million viewers each week as part of AMC's successfully programmed block of westerns (film and TV) -- just as "Hell on Wheels" did in prior years. http://www.tvguide.com/news/amc-rene...-for-season-2/ |
