Biggrin Rowan & Martin's Laugh In, The Complete Series is coming from timelife this June!

Feast your eyes on this announcement from timelife.com!

http://timelife.com/products/laughin

I've e-mailed a message to the North Pole asking the man who runs things there asking him to deliver me one of these sets in December.

Wow that is quite an announcement, Laugh In complete series, verrrrry interesting.

At 250 bucks the price tag is a little steep, but I guess that's to be expected because they're releasing a lot of material here. And the funny thing is, I didn't know Laugh In ran for 6 seasons and 140 episodes, I thought it ran for only 3 seasons and about 70 episodes. I must be confusing it with the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.

I don't know yet if I'll want to buy this, I'll think about it, I'll probably wait awhile and see if the price comes down. Maybe one of the retro TV stations will start airing the episodes too. Dean Martin's variety show is another good one, Time Life has made some of those shows available on DVD but they are expensive also.

When I think of shows I'd like Time-Life to come in and save by releasing on DVD in a complete series box set (Happy Days unedited, My Three Sons unedited, Chico and the Man), Laugh-In isn't one of them. However, I will definitely buy this collection. It takes me back to my childhood... when I used to watch it on Nick at Nite, lol. I wasn't alive during its original run. I'll pretty much buy any show that used to air on Nick at Nite from the '80s to '00. Beyond that, it's pick and choose.

Cool

Correction, I will be getting this set in JANUARY. My children's Christmas charity program (What's that? you are a visitor from out of town? That's no excuse, grab a toy and get in line!) comes first.

I'm not sure if I get the decades channel, I'll have to check my cable listings and see if the channel is included.

One important thing to consider about this forthcoming Laugh In DVD release is if all the shows are going to be uncut. I don't recall if Laugh In has musical performances, but if it does there's a chance the music segments will be cut from the DVD's. Time Life did this with the Dean Martin shows, music segments are cut, they did release a few uncut shows but not many.

Anyhow, I'm not going to buy this Laugh In DVD set right away, I'm going to read reviews about the set first and wait until the price comes down. When Time Life first released the Get Smart complete series, they wanted $200 for it but now they've cut the price in half and it's now available for $100.

That's another reason I'm going to wait until at least January before I purchase this set. When the holiday season ends, There's a good chance the price will go down. It may very well come down on Cyber Monday as well.

PS If it is listed as a "Door Buster" on Thanksgiving Day FUGGADABOUDIT! I refuse to kick my observance of this holiday aside to get something at a discount.

Laugh In was the forerunner to Saturday Night Live. SNL basically picked up where Laugh In left off.

If I was a big fan of Laugh In, I'd probably be inclined to buy the DVD set sooner rather than later. But I'm just a casual fan and only mildly curious to see the shows again, so I'm going to get further information first and wait a while before deciding if I want the DVD set.

What will probably be a dealbreaker for me is if the shows are cut/edited because of music. A few cuts/edits probably wouldn't bother me too much, but if several shows are cut/edited then it's likely I won't purchase the set.

There are some like the three you mentioned I'd rather see. Also, I'd also pick Murphy Brown as a big nice complete series set from Time-Life. I'd love to see Murphy Brown first and foremost, and (if Shout! Factory won't step up and save it) maybe they'll release St. Elsewhere too! One can only hope!

That's cool. Though I'd rather rent than own it, having seen a handful of episodes as an adult the show I just don't find rewatchable, wouldn't mind seeing it again, but not something I would pull off the shelf to revisit.

I would definitely buy a complete series box set of Murphy Brown. I probably would not buy St. Elsewhere, simply because I'm not a fan of hospital dramas. I still would like it to be released for the fans though.

The offical word from Time Life says that all 140 episodes are complete and uncut. That's good to know, now to wait for the price to come down because I'm not paying $250 for this DVD set.

I'll order my set no earlier than January 6 (The Twelfth Day of Christmas ). In the meantime I have bigger fish to fry!

If Deep Discount DVD offers this set I'll probably end up ordering it from them because they usually have great deals on DVD's with marked down prices.

Deep Discount currently has the Get Smart complete series for $70, Time Life wants $100 so Deep Discount is obviously the place to go shopping.

Like other StarVista/Time-Life releases, I'm sure this one will have individual seasons available in stores for cheaper prices.
