Hubert Tamblyn Spiva, Jr, known as Tam Spiva, a 20-year resident of Pacific Palisades, California, passed away peacefully at home after a long bout with Parkinson's with Lewy Bodies, on April 30, 2017.
The Memorial Service will be held at Hillside Memorial Park, at 6001 W. Centinela Avenue, Los Angeles, California, 90045, in the Large Chapel on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at 3 PM. Rabbi David Baron will be officiating.
Tam Spiva was born in Minden, Louisiana, on June 18, 1932. He attended Western Military Academy in Alton, Illinois and then went on to Northwestern University where he received a BA in theater. He worked as an actor after college in New York for a few years, operated a theater in Houston, Texas, for some period of time and then went back to New York to work on and invest in the stage production of Inherit the Wind. In addition, he attended the London School of Film Technique, now known as the The London Film School. In anticipation of the birth of his second daughter, he moved from London to the Los Angeles area and established himself as a television writer. Tam is survived by his wife, Phyllis Resnick Spiva, with whom he has been for 38 years, his children, Aly and Phil Wilkins, Mary Amanda Spiva, Reagan and Danielle Spiva, parents of Lily and Bella Spiva, and Danielle Durkin and Dave Lowther, parents of Beckett Dov Lowther. He was greatly loved and will be missed by other family members and his multitude of friends from the fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's or the UCLA Department of Neurology in Tam Spiva's memory.
