Default "Friends": the show everyone loves to hate

"Friends is a really good show. It is VERY funny, but I know quite a few people who say they hate the show with all their might! but find the show funny. Why does everybody WANT to hate "Friends"? It's as funny as A LOT of shows!

I just don't find it appealing. It just isn't very funny. The characters seem very cardboardy to me. But that's just IMO.

Yes, there has always been an anti "Friends" vibe on this website.
I have always enjoyed the show, perhaps some of the younger members don't relate to the generation depicted on the show.

I have tried to watch the show 3 times, and can just not get into it. It is boring and the gags are either unfunny or gross.

Also, it seems to have an idenity crisis. It is almost too dramatic at times to be considered a situation comedy.

I stand by my comment that Frasier is the only CURRENT NBC sitcom that is good.

I agree. And I'm not just singling "Friends" out, but it's all the sitcoms today and the way they had gotten since the mid to late 90's. They just seem to have no quality or substance whatsoever and seem to be filled with nothing but vulgarity. The only show I can really tolerate is Everybody Loves Raymond. The others are just impossible to watch, IMO. Thank goodness I still have Nick at Nite, TV Land, Lifetime, and other networks that air re-runs of the quality shows that once existed.

You would have to be pretty prudent to think that the jokes on there are THAT gross, cuz they really arent.

Thumbs down

I find "Friends" stupid and unwatchable, as well as offensive. Not to mention OVERRATED!!!

Allow me to paraphrase the Parents Television Council (Http://www.parentstv.org/) a highly recommended site for finding the dregs of TV by the way--about Friends:

"Friends is one of the raciest sitcoms in prime time, and its early evening timeslot makes it that much more objectionable.. All six regulars have been sexually active, and dialogue has contained vulgar language and explicitly sexual content; topics like condom use, and the erotic use of handcuffs have served as joke fodder. The show also frequently uses off-color words."

I wouldn't post the worst here, but needless to say, Friends is not Family-Friendly. It's TV PG (No Underwarnings) is decieving.

Cool

I think it's all a matter of personal taste. A lot of people out there seem to really enjoy watching Friends and I respect that. Personally, I have watched it quite a few times and I just do not care for it at all. Everybody has different tastes. I think Wings is a very funny show. I know some people totally disagree and I'm fine with that. Wouldn't these message boards be a boring place if we all watched the same shows?

I don't understand why people seem to get so worked up over another person's opinion of a TV show. There are a lot more things in this world to worry about than what people like to watch on TV.
