Beaver collects from 12 or more people, loses the money, goes back and re-collects. Meanwhile, someone finds the original money.
Ward offers to handle going back to the people who originally gave, and tell them the money was found. He calls them all. I never saw Beaver write down their names and addresses, did you? How would Ward have known all those people? |

maybe it was just everyone on the block, Beaver probably wasn't smart enough (or allowed) to go any farther than that.

I wondered that too. I also wondered why Ward had to do all the calling. He worked all day. June could have done that during the day so Ward didn't have to stay up late at night. It was after all June's project. It was not well written. Also June could have gone to Wally's open house and collected the next day or later in the afternoon.

Also speaking of odd dialogue from the other post. We all wonder why Whitey thinks they might "hit us" when they go to the express office. Gilbert says in Community Chest when they are about to collect "I hope they don't throw water on us or tell us to beat it." Something like that.

Pulled up this old post.
So many holes in the script. I thought Ward’s idea of going to each person to see how much they donated was time consuming. If Ward wanted to solve the problem just estimate what each person coughed up and find out how many people Beaver went to. Mayfield was a crime free town so when the money was returned Ward could be paid back. Having Ward call all the people was just dumb and as you said Beaver didn’t know the names. He had to introduce himself to everyone. And another thing: If the open house was after school June could have collected late morning. What else was she doing? They are all sitting at the table in the morning and June says “oh I was going to collect for the community chest.” Why didn’t Ward say “well why don’t you collect this morning then you can go to Wally‘s school this afternoon. You will have a busy day today.“ Another mistake was the guy taking the shower. He was intimidating and the boys ran off. Why would Beaver say he even went to the guy who was wet before and he was dry this time. Why would he go to him to find out what he gave. Dumb. The wet guy lived at the Rutherford house and the Andrews house. |

Maybe they went back to the wet guy later, cause they knew he'd had his shower by then???
