I always thought that the Eric Tamiyasu would make a damn good movie due to the clear motives that the 3 main suspects. Although they never found the killer we all can agree that it was probably either Sheriff Joe Wampler, Don Dixon, or Eric Smith that killed him.
Another segment that I think would make a good move would be the Todd Mueller case. The guy was very good at being a con man and it was funny how he liked to mess the LE. Plus no one knows how the hell he escaped from that hospital bed with the officer outside the room. Finally, the Kevin Hughes'Nashville Music Row murder would make a great movie as well due to those the plotted to kill him. I can probably will think of more but those are three right off the top of my head. |

The Gulf Breeze UFO hoax could work as a movie. That case is a good study of "you see what you want to see".

They could do one hell of a "Dumb and Dumber" reboot with Tim McClure and Mark Nichols.

Tommy Zeigler. It would make a very interesting Rashomon-style movie with all the different witnesses sharing their different recollections of the crime which contradict one another.

The problem is that since so many cases have no resolution it would be an unsatisfying movie

Maybe a combination of Resurrection Mary visiting those Los Angeles bank tunnels. Darkness shows off her best features.
Besides, it could be used to explain what happened to those guys. |

I'd start with Don Dixon finding the body. Then, as the crime is investigated, show the interactions and motives of the primary players as well as Eric's life and last night in flashbacks. Then, at the end, you show the murder actually taking place, being careful to never show the face of the killer. You end the movie on this completely ambiguous note where the audience decides for themselves who they think did it. It would generate a lot of discussion amongst the fans if you made it well enough to have fans. You'd need an investigator character for the audience to identify with. I'm not sure how the actual investigation into Eric's murder went. To write a screenplay, I'd create a story line where an outside agency was brought in (probably state police level) because Wampler is a suspect and make the state police detectives your main characters who drive the action. Oh man, I haven't written a screenplay since the two I wrote for the first two iterations of Project Greenlight, but I'm starting to feel a vibe on this one. |
