Default Co-stars who did not get along

i hear that William Frawley and Vivian Vance did not actually get along in real life.

Also I have heard that Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams did not get along.

I also heard that Gabrial Kaplan did not get along with some of the "Sweathog" actors.

I think Maureen McCormick has said that she and Eve Plumb started out as friends but now do not get along.

From one account I heard that Bud Abbott and Lou Costello argued a lot and Lou Costello once told Bud Abbott "I'm your metal ticket" ( which I guess means that Bud Abbott alone could not be the show-business success that he became without his side-kick and fall guy Lou Costello). Of course I read this in the National Enquirer decades ago.

Anyone know?

OK. But I would not know how to move it, only delete it and re-write it there.

William Frawley & Vivian Vance REALLY HATED each other!! She hated having to pretend they were married and was constantly calling him "an old coot". He could sometimes be heard in his dressing room yelling things like "I REFUSE TO DO THIS SCENE WITH THAT *****!!!" After ILL was cancelled CBS wanted them to do a "FRED & ETHEL" spin-off but she said "NO WAY IN HELL WOULD I EVER WORK WITH MR. FRAWLEY AGAIN!!" Years later when she was doing "The Lucy show" and he was down the hall doing "MY 3 SONS" during a break in filming once he went down to the Lucy set with Stanley Livingston, had him climb up a catwalk above where she was filming a scene and drop a heavy piece of metallic equipment, startling her. Then they both ran back to their set laughing and he said "That'll show that *****!!"

And Frances Bavier was short-tempered and the TAGS cast frequently had to "walk on eggshells" around her.

Raymond Bailey , Mr. Drysdale, was not friendly with most of his castmates on "Beverly Hillbillies".

Joyce Dewitt and Suzanne Somers on Three's Company. Supposedly they made up, but it was strange Suzanne wasn't at the reunion.

I heard also that Erik Estrada and Larry Wilcox on CHiPs didn't really get along, onscreen appearance notwithstanding.

Sometimes it amazes me hearing stories of how series co-stars never got along on set because they all certaintly hid it well in front of the cameras, I guess that's why they call it "acting".

And when William Frawley died, Desi Arnaz said "Buenas Noches, Amigo"! When Lucille Ball heard the news, she said "I've lost one of my dearest friends and show business has lost one of the greatest character actors of all time. Those of us who knew him and loved him will miss him"...but when Vance heard the news of his death, she shouted, "Champagne for everyone!" That *****!

Rosie O'Donnel who was on Gimme a Break! on its 6th Season, actually hated working with Nell Carter! Nell Carter called her "Maggie" as in her character so she can help The Lawrence Brothers Joey and Matthew to focus on their lines, she also did that to other cast members which didn't mind.

Michael Landon never seemed to have anything nice to say about Pernell Roberts.

Bea Arthur allegedly didn't like Betty White and Betty White has mentioned Bea didn't like her in interviews.

David Hasselhoff didn't get along with KITT. KITT said in an interview once that David didn't deserve to ride in the trunk, let alone the front seat.

Supposedly, Shannen Doherty did not get along with Jennie Garth on "Beverly Hills, 90210" and she apparently had other problems with cast members that resulted in her firing from "Beverly Hills, 90210." The exact nature of the issue has been debated over the years and many of the claims made against her she has refuted.

To her credit though, Tiffani Thiessen has since said that she also had some issues with Garth and Tori Spelling when she joined the cast of the same show. Thiessen described the situation on-set as one where the girls were hostile towards her and unwelcoming, while the male members of the cast were welcoming to her.

We all know that for a brief time period; Delta Burke and her "Designing Women" co-stars, most notably Dixie Carter did not get along, resulting in her firing from the series.

And there have been some rumors that Marla Gibbs and Jackee Harry feuded during the filming of "227", though they have evidently made up since then.

Nobody on the set of "Grace Under Fire" got along with Brett Butler by the end of the show. Julie White even quit the show due to Brett's erratic behavior.
