I've heard that sliting your wrists doesn't work because you don't bleed enough.

Yes, you can kill yourself by slitting your wrists, you're right. I know several people whom have tried or succeeded in killing themselves that way.

Cutting yourself indicates you need some help/ guidance and quick. Because once cutting yourself doesn't satisfy that need, so to speak. It's going to get more and more serious. Therefore, cutting deeper and deeper until you really do cut yourself enough to kill. (example: Drug addicts. Usually, they'll maybe start out with something not real real bad and keep working up to needled drugs, etc. Until they overdose and die.)

ok here is my 2 cents lol

if you cut your rist straght across you wont die...
but if you cut at an angle there would be no way your hand could be saved i mean if nobody catches you you will die but if your cought in time you'll just loose your hand.. so if you were to kill yourself by cutting your rist you have to do it at an angle ok.... wel buh bye

I agree with the comments above. If you are doing this to yourself, or are thinking about doing it, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE talk to somebody about it before you do yourself real harm!

Someone else said that "it depends on the angle". Unless you are an experienced surgeon, there is no way the average person could know which angle would be "safe", and which angle would be dangerous. You could accidently sever an artery and bleed to death. Even if you didn't bleed to death, there's always the possibility of an infection setting in that could be fatal, or if you lived, result in the amputation of your hand or arm.

I admit that I'm no medical expert, but I find some of the comments on this thread really scary. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS TO YOURSELF! There isn't anything positive that could come from experimenting with something as dangerous as this. Find someone that you trust to talk to before something terrible happens that cannot be reversed.

A Lot of my friends do it. If you cut your arms down that vein, you will die if you don't get help, but it takes a long time to die if you do it straight across. I'm talking about if you slit from elbow to wrist on that vein, you know? But whoever you know that's doing it needs to get help right away.

I don't really know anyone who does that... my friend tried to make it LOOk like she cut herself just for attention... but even if you're doing that you need some help. I think maybe one of my friends tried to commit suicide that way... I have very messed up friends, i know.

I used to hang out with friends that cut themselves. I never did it, because I thought it was just a -ucked up way to feel better. I'm squemish and I can't stand the sight of blood- so maybe thats why I didn't do it. Seriously, they would take razor blades and just slice it into their arm or leg. They would carve in little designs and show everybody. One friend tried to cut herself with a razor blade, but her mom caught her. She took a pair of scissors and just cut into herself that way. I think my friends have straightened up, but get your friend some help. They may be pissed off at the time if you do tell someone, but you could be saving their life....

The cool thing to do right now is to cut the name of your exboyfriend into your ankle when they break up with you. VERY STUPID!!! You can never wear sandals or lowcut socks again, unless you do it really shallowly (???) or something. My friend has that problem, cuz she doesn't want her mom to see it, so she always has to wear socks.

Oh trust me. I know. You can kill yourself. Especially if you do your wrists multiple times in the same spot. Any major vein that you can see, if you cut that multiple times and you kept doing it and doing it and don't get help, you will die.
