Great news! Shout is finally getting on the ball with this one. I'm sure 7 will follow in October, then probably 8 in January and this show will finally be finished.

Wonderful news! Looks like someone at Shout! Factory finally woke up and smelled the toast! With any luck, all eight seasons of "Strokes" will be finally be released on DVD before its fortieth anniversary next year! And speaking of its fortieth anniversary next year, Shout! Factory may release a complete series DVD box set featuring every episode of "Strokes," plus some extras! Fingers crossed!

That was the season when I first started watching Diff'rent Strokes on NBC back in the Spring of '84. Right before Drummond met and remarried Maggie and Sam became his 4th child and stepson. Only 2 seasons away from completing the series.

Amazing news!
I can't wait until the final season release! The intro will sound really good once transferred onto DVD! Hopefully they don't cut out the opening notes of those keyboard drums as the networks usually do on reruns and such! When season 8 originally aired they didn't use that short season 8 theme on the DS sound page did they-- or was that in re-runs-- It seems to me there's no opening credits that match that 30 second theme ANYWHERE ONLINE! |

Glad that it looks like the ball is rolling with these. Even if we don't get 7 and 8, 6 is a good stopping point for the show (though I'll get 7 and 8 if Shout puts them out)
Hopefully the renewed working with Sony leads to more One Day At A Time and 227 too |

I'm thinking the reboot on Netflix and the show returning to syndicated reruns on Logo after many years away (I don't get Antenna, so it's the first time since E in the late 90s I've seen these episodes) should help ODAAT's chances.
Been a long time since I saw 227, but I don't remember that much in way of music rights, I remember the episode with Bobby Brown but that was in the last season if I recall. Season 6 is one of my fave years of DS so I'm glad for the DVD set, even though Sam and Maggie was the point where the show never recovered, but the first half of the season contains a lot of faves |
