They used to show some good shows up to a few years ago. Beverly Hillbillies stood out to me in the morning. No more. They used to broadcast local Chicago news.No more. They used to televise Cubs and White Sox games. No more.
This is a terrible channel.Looks like their schedule consists mostly of Cops and a few other shows I have never heard of.How does this channel stay on the air ? It's just awful and shows nothing interesting anymore IMO.This used to be one of my favorite channels years ago. Does anyone here have a listing of what shows and sports WGN used to air going back into the 80's ? |

Just when I asked the question about what shows used to air on WGN, I unexpectedly found it online.
Check out this list. I agree. It's a bad network now. The only show I watch on it is "In the Heat of the Night".

I haven't watched it in years. I used to watch Beverly Hillbillies, Happy Days, and Cosby Show on it but that was many years ago.

They do show some cool 80s-early 90s movies sometimes though. Edited to add: Nevermind about the movies. I was thinking of the CW. |

It's been a little over a decade since I gave up on subscribing to a Pay-TV provider to get my programming. IMO it simply isn't worth it. Most of the programming they no longer show are available via other means for a price that;s CHEAPER than paying a provider. I'm no longer at their mercy when it comes to watching what I want to see. One of these days I'll show you pictures of my mammoth collection of shows on home video. I own over 50,000 hours of programming on home video. Addd to that the amount of programming available on youtube I'm set for life!
Let these channels rot in their greed, I got better things to spend my money on. {angryfire PS, I don't have to wade through the insane amounts of advertising while I watch any show.

Just another commercial filled network that plays the same shows over-and-over. We now have 500 channels and look at how it turned out. If you don't like the show on at 6 AM it will still be on when you get home at 6 PM.

For a while they were pretty good. They cancelled one of the few decent original and creative series on there ---Salem, which was giving them some press. Now it's nothing but another channel that airs a select few shows all day. I don't know why cable channels today want to be carbon copies of each other.

Corporation took-over WGN!
This is why I hate the corporate world...if it doesn't make money...throw it away! If it makes money...milk that cash-cow! |

I read someplace that WGN might be sold. I still expect whoever owns it to acquire 4 or so series and run them in 12 hour marathons. I remember when there was a different show every 30 minutes or every hour. I think if they did not start the practice TVLand was one of the first to have frequent marathons or "block party" days.
What good is having so many channels if the same show is always on? I see "Friends" is on TBS for hours then it switches to another Network and runs several more hours. |
