I know that William Windom and Kathleen Nesbitt would each live quite a few years afterwards and have long careers thereafter. However; I never heard of either of them or the performers who played the sons express any reaction to her tragic demise.

Since I was not much older than 5, I have faint recollections of the TV Show "The Farmer's Daughter." I might have it partially confused with another TV show. I do recall hearing of the name Inger Stephens when I was very young, and thought it was an unusual first name.
In the late 60s I saw some episodes of The Farmer's Daughter which were strictly re-runs by then but I had little idea of the "plot set-up." It apparently was about a farmer's daughter, but I don't recall seeing a farm like in Green Acres. I have a decent recollection of two young boys in the cast of characters. One of them reminded me of the twin boys in "Please Don't Eat The Daises." Then when I got older and saw "Nanny And The Professor" I thought that it had such a similarity to The Farmer's Daughter with a "Nanny" taking care of a widowed man's kids. I only recently learned of the sudden and strange death of Inger Stephens. It is sad and mysterious. I was influenced to look up information on the internet after reading some of the threads here about The Farmer's Daughter. I found out what the real names of the young actors who played the young boys in The Farmers Daughter, were, Rory O'Brien and Mickey Scholar . I first had to look in "IMdb" and then type in the names on Google and strangely Rory O'Brien is also the name of a 27 year old Rugby player who is well known in Australia. I accidentally typed in "Stephen Morley" (the character that Mickey Scholar played) and found out there is a well known American football player by that name. I may have been way too young to exactly recall, but I think I once saw an episode of The Farmer's Daughter that was depicting the mood of the mid 1960s, and the older boy wanted to be a recording artist because of the music he was hearing over the radio, which if The Farmer's Daughter was depicting the 1960s, would have been the music of The Beatles and other British Invasion bands, and by the end of the show, the older boy no longer wanted to be a recording artist, but then the younger boy was listening to the radio and dancing along to the music and "Katie" and the boys' father were worried than now the younger boy was taking after his brother. Anyone remember the episode I am referring to? "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inger_Stevens https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNWDdsoTDno |

I once read Cathleen Nesbit's autobiography to learn about her experiences working on The Farmer's Daughter, but was disappointed because she didn't go into a lot of detail. From what I can recall, she does not even talk about Inger's death. I don't think she even mentioned that she died young. She does talk briefly about the series and of course mentions that Inger was the star. She said she especially liked working with William Windom, but she did not like working in the fast-pace grind of series television. She worked a lot in the theater when she was younger, and I got the impression that television was beneath her. She did the pilot because she didn't think it would sell. It was in her contract that she didn't have to be in every episode---just a certain amount of episodes. I think she lived on the East coast, and didn't like the commute to L.A. That's all I remember. You might find a copy at your local library.

I have a tribute site for Bill Windom. In all my research, he never mentioned attending her memorial service. I do know that he and his fourth wife lived not far from Inger and what he said was her husband, back in the early 70s.
