Default The Tragic Story of Etan Patz

Since there is a thread about Brent Townsend I figured there should be one about this tragic story:

On a morning in May 25, 1979, a 6-year-old boy named Etan Patz kissed his mother goodbye. It was his first time he went to the bus stop alone in his SoHo neighborhood. When he got about a block away from his destination he vanished. He has been missing for a little under 23 years. His parents hired several investigators and detectives. They even enlisted the help of pyschics. They believed their son was still alive. And then 22 years after he vanished, his parents accepted that their son could be dead.

I wonder if he is still alive. He would be 30 years old this October so I think maybe he will come home on that day.Or maybe he'll return on the 23 anniversary.

That's so sad. Anyone hear about poor Molly Bish? She disappeared in the Summer of 2000...she was a lifeguard at Commins Pond, in Warren, MA. About a 45 minute drive from me. Anyways her mom brought her to work, 20 minutes later when everyone came for their swimming lessons, she was gone. She would have graduated from High school this past summer Everyone thinks she is probably dead.

Red face

I remember when this happened to Etan. This is such a sad, sad story. One of New Yorks saddest. I wish his dissapearance would be solved once and for all. I just feel someone saw something. Out of all these hundreds of people in NYC? I hope I find out what happened to him in my lifetime. He was such a beautiful little boy.

Cool

i think Etan's and Molly's cases are just so tragic. I don't see how someone can be psycho enough to murder an innocent child. I feel strongly for the death penalty in these cases. Of course, nothing they can do to the child killer can ease the pain that they brought the child's parents.

there was another case in Massachusetts where a girl was abducted in 1985 and they just found her remains 2 or 3 years ago. How sad

I read in People magazine a few years ago that Etan Patz' parents had him declared legally dead. It was suspected that his babysitters boyfriend had something to do with it.

Ohh that's so sad!! The thing that would kill me is that you don't know if your child was alive or dead...or if he was dead, how he was killed. Disappearances like that are really scary....
