Just curious how people stand on this issue. I'm fine with colorization but for occasional viewing only. I applaud the colorized specials that CBS does around Christmas because they're well done and offer a different view of the show. But I still prefer the original black-and-white most of the time since it's more authentic and how I got to know the shows in the first place.

For special occasions.
I wouldn't want to watch "I Love Lucy" or "The Andy Griffith Show" in color all the time but once/twice a year it's a special treat to see the Christmas episodes and another episode be colorized. If the entire series was colorized all at once, it'd take the specialness away. |

Occasionally I am watching a program in color and the quality is so bad, grainy film that I think maybe it would better if they broadcast it in black and white. The old way, 1950- 1960-1970 standard of broadcasting, the old shows don't do well 45-70 years later. Wide screen, digital 4.6 vs 16. and sometimes my eyes get tired. I watched Hazel today and the colors seems so bright. I hate to spend half my time adjusting the set. Any one else have problems???

I was watching Doris Day marathon a week or so ago on DECADES and film quality was awful. Doris's face specially in close ups was like looking through wax paper. Don't think I will watching her show again.

Like others previously mentioned , its OK if its a special event or something similar. But I'll always prefer the show in its original form , black and white

I'll agree with all the other posters. Only on special occasions. BTW, has anybody heard anything about a new colorized Lucy?

Occasional colorization is fun!
But I really prefer to see the old shows in their natural black and white most of the time!!! So I voted Yes for occasional viewing!

For occasional viewing only.Colorization should really be called Artificial Color. It's sometimes fun to see what a few episodes look like, but otherwise I'm against colorization of black and white TV shows.

the problem is, the ratings plummet with black-and-white. Modern audiences have little tolerance for black-and-white programs.
