http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/ALF-Com...-Edition/23089
This past Friday we reported that on May 9th Lionsgate Entertainment will release in the U.S.A. all four seasons of ALF in a single package. At the time we passed along word, from our retailer contacts who got the info straight from Lionsgate, that it would be a 24-disc set called "The Seasons 1-4 Collection"; these turn out to not be the case. Today the studio provided retailers with the following two images below, of the package art for this bundle. According to the box, it's properly called "ALF - The Complete DVD Collection: Collector's Edition," and the "beauty shot" image shows it's a 16-DVD set. The latter makes more sense to us, since the four individual season sets each came with 4 discs per package (and the 2012 "Complete Series" set put out in Canada was a 16-disc set as well). The "beauty shot" demonstrates that this is EXACTLY the existing seasons sets, just slid into an outer package that includes as part of it what Lionsgate described as "a 3D 'Thermoform' Alf Face"; you can see that below: |

Lionsgate Entertainment is totally wasting their time on this ALF - Seasons 1 - 4 Complete Collection Set. This is not what the ALF fans wanted and more than likely sales are not going to do well. Lionsgate Entertainment is using the same chopped up cut episodes as they did in 2004 and 2005. You would think Lionsgate Entertainment would have done this right this time knowing how upset the ALF fans were with the old releases of ALF. ALF in other regions have been released uncut and it's not fair that we can't get them here in the US uncut. I wish Lionsgate would get the uncut episodes released on DVD or better yet, have them sell the rights to another studio who will release them uncut on DVD.

If I didn't already own all 4 seasons I'd buy this new repackaged set. But there's no need in rebuying it just for the new slipcover.

It's a double whammy because not only are they syndicated versions but any music references are excised as well. One episode runs for 17 minutes. Disgraceful.
