Default June's Birthday-A Problem

Can anyone shed some light on this? There seems to be a discrepancy on this episode--here is a scene description:

Scene in Miss Landers (ML below) classroom. Class has just finished singing "Old MacDonald".

Judy: "Miss Landers, Larry was making noises during the song."

ML: "Larry, were you making noises?"

(Larry stands) Larry: "No, Miss Landers. Those were my oinks."

ML: "Well, you just make sure that they are."

Larry: "Yes, Miss Landers."

(Here is where I think the problem is).

ML: "Now, remember, we'll all assemble in the playground right after lunch."

(Whitey raises his hand.) ML: "Yes, Whitey?"

(Whitey stands.) Whitey: "Do we come back from Mrs. Harrison's, or do our mothers get to keep us?"

ML: "No, the bus will bring us back here."

(Whitey sits.) Whitey: "Yes, Miss Landers."

ML: "Well, there are a few minutes till lunchtime, but I think we can go to the cafeteria now."

Class: "Yes, Miss Landers."

ML: "All right, class dismissed."

(class leaves, and there is more dialogue with Beaver and Larry--Beaver is telling Larry that his mother is going to be there and she's going to be wearing the blouse--Larry says that's swell--Beaver asks Larry if his mother is going to be there, and Larry says she will if she gets over her nervous headache--then a few more lines about her yelling at Larry's sister). Dissolve to Mrs. Harrison's house.

Here's the problem: I remember Miss Landers explaining to the class what they're going to do. In that entire scene, there is no explanation about where they're going, or why.

I think is an edit where I showed, above, even on the DVDs. Does anyone have this episode taped from an old showing, or something? I think this edit goes back to when TV Land showed LITB.

I don't recall much more to the scene. She must have explained they were going to Mrs. Harrison's since Whitey mentioned it. Maybe the kids have been practicing but don't know they will sing at the mother's tea as it's a surprise. Beaver knows about the tea cuz he tells June she can wear the blouse. I think you're right it's a big surprise to the kids they will sing for the mothers. Something was edited out. If Beaver knew he would have said "Mom I'll see you at the mother's tea because we will sing for you." June would have worn the blouse. I'll check out the episode I recorded back from TV Land.

Found the episode from TV Land and nothing was cut out. It goes from June on the stairs and Ward saying "Oo la la" to the kids in the classroom singing Old MacDonald and Miss L giving instructions. I believe the kids are told already they're going to sing for the mothers and we find out as Mrs. Harrison announces to the ladies that a group of children will sing. By the way June wears a dress on her birthday we never see again.

When the children are in a group singing we see 4 children in front of Beaver and Larry however when they sing it appears they're in the front of the group.

I think the edit originated in the TVLand years. Making it more of a puzzle is that the episode times out to like 25:46 on the DVD, meaning in theory that it is complete. I grant you the only thing that makes it a puzzle is me! If you watch it again, see if it makes sense to you.

I found some 3rd season episodes I recorded off TV Land, but for some reason, not this one. The one I looked at timed out around twenty minutes. The series was shown on a local channel years ago--I wish I had recorded off there.

It bugs me enough that I might do some looking on Ebay. If I could prove it out I'd tell Shout that they need to remaster the DVD (but they probably wouldn't).

I remember seeing June's Birthday many times and never remember Miss L explaining their field trip but you could be right. I was surprised to see a scene in the driveway in the beginning with June and Ward discussing her birthday. Ward is waxing the car so he can take her out to dinner . She doesn't want them making any fuss this year and Ward reminds her how on his birthday he was given bath salts. Is that on DVD's? I forget the whole scene.

Yes, it is. That surprised me too. I think that is regularly edited out by MeTV.

It could also explain my discrepancy. The classroom scene makes no sense. Some editing mixup may have occurred somewhere along the line.

Ebay was no help, but I still have a few more ideas!

Just watched an old TV Land episode, Larry Runs Away. MeTV seems to never cut scenes compared to TV Land.

After Larry and his mother leave the house, Beaver and Wally are sitting on the bed. Wally says I think they're leaving. Then they cut it to Ward telling June now it's his turn to reprimand his own kids. MeTV shows the scene where the boys go to the window and Wally talks about seeing his sister in the car and it looked like she was laughing. Beaver asks if Larry is crying. So TV Land did a lot of editing.

If it's from the same time period I made a few DVDs in from TV Land, they were showing only 20 minutes of episode. So they were cutting out nearly 6 minutes.
I don't know when my DVDs from TV Land were made--probably around 10 years ago.

Mine have a date of 2004 so that was 13 years ago. Hey there's another scene that TV Land edited out of June's Birthday. When June arrives at the tea she sees a couple of ladies and talks about whether Mrs. Mondello will come. They talk about her headaches and how having a teenage daughter could cause them. Remember that?

At one time TV Land showed the whole episode then they started editing to insert all those commercials.
