The season premiere of the Murder Comes To Town aired on Investigation Discovery last night. Because of the death of series narrator Joe Alaskey in February 2016, the show has a new narrator. His name is Anthony D. Call. He narrated the now-defunct Discovery Channel series The FBI Files.

Checked out a bit. Not sure I like the show, but I like Anthony's voice. Although he's getting older and it's audible (he's 76 now).

Call is generally a good narrator, but I question whether he's a good choice for a replacement narrator. Anyone would have had a difficult time filling in for the late Joe Alaskey, but the episodes of Murder Comes To Town go at a slower pace than The FBI Files, causing Call to narrate the show differently. The pace is different from what he is accustomed to, so the distinction in his voice is obvious. When you're used to hearing how someone narrates, it's hard to imagine him or her doing it differently. |
