Do you like the sepitone for the kansas scenes or reg black and white?
I did like the sepitones (It was OK) until I got the first 1980 VHS release that has the original black and white and to me IT LOOKS MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!!! They took out the sepitone stuff in 1949 FOR A REASON .. Most likely they didnt like it either and thought BW looked better..... Its sad in 1989 it was put back in but its no surprise..... The 80s is when the world died in my opinion.... In 1949 they knew WHAT GOOD WAS but in 1989 thier minds were clouded and thier judgements not thier own and its sad........ Which do you prefer?? |

I never even knew it was black and white at one point. I've always seen it it sepia tone and I like it. It provides a better contrast to the color scenes IMO since sepia tone looks even older and distant than B&W.
And I take it from the wording of your post that when the movie was originally released in 1939 it was in sepia tone? In that case the 1949 B&W-ization would have been an alteration of the original format. |
