Did Rose Dawson die in her sleep; reuniting with Jack? Or was her reunion just a dream? My sister and I always debate this. She believes Rose was just dreaming, but I believe she died in her sleep. If she was just dreaming, I wouldn' t imagine all the victims of the sinking would be in her dream to greet her. This scene seems more like she died and went to heaven. James Camron said he was leaving it up to the viewer to decide.

I agree with you, I think she died peacefully in her sleep, considering that it was the absolute last scene of the film and was the perfect ideal ending to draw it to a close. I generally dislike films that don't have a good ending, but Titanic avoided that by having this beautiful final scene. What Jack said in their final words together came true, in that Rose wouldn't die there in the water, she would go on to live out a full life, have children, and die an old lady at peace with the world in a warm bed. The pictures at the side of her bed also illustrated to the viewer that she had lived a rich and full life and her time was up at last. She could finally reunite with Jack and the others in Heaven.
