Today I spoke to my 11 year old son about Freddie. I told him what happened to Freddie. His rise and his fall. I told him to "Say No to drugs" because
of what happened to Freddie. My little daughter and my son recognize Freddie when I show them pictures of him. I told my son the story of how I enjoyed him back then in the 70's .When I show my daughter a picture of Freddie and she says Chico. She's 5 years old. They know about Jr. too because I told them about him. I promised them that I would take them to see his new movie coming out June 14 - The Scooby Doo movie. I also took them to see Summer Catch. Theres going to be a new Freddie generation in my household...

Jenny Lee, I know what you mean. I have shared with my teenage daughters and adult son about Freddie and the dangers of drugs. They all think it was a waste that he threw his life away like that, but I explained about the pressures that life can bring to us sometimes and how drugs look like the way out sometimes. ![]() My 17 year old daughter has it really bad for Junior and we have these friendly debates about who is cuter! Cause I think dad was, but she is soooo enamored by son. tee hee It makes for an interesting conversation sometimes! ![]() |

Never too early to caution kids about the danger of drugs!
I'm glad Freddie Jr is choosing a different path and not doing drugs! My 9 year old son likes to sing "Chico's your boyfriend" whenever I'm on here or watching my videos! He loves Scooby Doo, so I'm sure I won't have to twist his arm to hard to get him to go to the Scooby Doo movie with me. When my 3 year old girl sits with me when I'm on the message board, she is overjoyed by seeing the "smilies" pics-- she screams "happy face! happy face!!"

My girls are nine and a half and four and a half, and I have been discussing the tragedy of Freddie's life with the older one since we watched some of the TVLand Fandemonium a year ago January. I use his bad choices as an object lesson for her, and she understands--though she doesn't understand what I see in Freddie! Even the fact that he was funny is lost on her, a devotee of SpongeBob SquarePants LOL! She won't accompany me to see the Scooby Doo movie, though--she is no more impressed with the son than she has been with the dad!
My younger one likes to look at the photos from the TV show which have been posted on various Yahoo clubs, and she tells me in which ones she thinks he looks cute! She even named the little blue Hot Wheels sportscar she got for Christmas "Freddie" because I had told my girls about his blue Stingray! But she calls him--in the photos and the shows I have on video--"Chico"! She also refers to a certain brand of blank tapes as "Chico tapes" because that is what Luckymama used to record mine LOL! |

I have 2 nieces who are absolutely Ga-Ga over Fred Jr. too. When they see me....... they know that we're going to be having a fun conversation about him because I agree that he's a HUNK and stuff like that. Last night I had Fred Sr. on my mind (again).............

I think Jr's mother could've educated him on the subject and also, how it caused some problems in the marriage. By the way, he(Freddie Jr.) was on The Rosie O' Donnell show yesterday morning with Sarah and the rest of the Scooby movie cast.I was studying him so hard trying to see if I could see who he resembles more.

I think Freddie Jr. resembles Kathy more, but if you look at the shape of his face and his chin (not to mention those dimples), you can see a strong resemblence to Freddie Sr there.
Someone on here (can't remeber who)has a picture of dad and son superimposed side by side, and the shape of the faces and the chins looked identical! |

Lucky has the picture I think. Fred Jr. has his mother's mouth but, Jr. has Freddie's eyebrows, hair, he's tall like his dad he has alot of his dad. If you put him side by side his mother........ he definitly has her mouth.
