Driving to work this morning I came across a station out of Virginia, I thought it was kinda
strange to hear Peter Marshall from the Hollywood Squares on the air as dj, but he played the tune Cry Me a River by Julie London. The song sounded nothing like the same Julie who years later would do Emergency. A while back I read a book by penny Stallings about the large number of sitcom stars ( even non-sitcom stars ) putting out records and such. Some I heard like William Shatner doing Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds or Mae West doing the Doors Light My Fire. I also heard Joe Ross ( Car 54 ) doing a song based on his own catch phrase "oohh oooohh". John Travolta's "Let her In" isnt all that bad. same with "Ringo" by Lorne Greene from Bonanza. Strangest one I heard was "We Love You..Call Collect" by Art Linkletter and his daughter Diane. Very dated but cool !! Kinda of sad as Diane died not long after doing this record. The Brady Bunch, Disi Arnaz, The Flintstones, even The Simpsons had CDs out recently but many sitcom records I have never heard. Has anyone heard songs by... Irene Ryan ( Granny from Beverly Hillbillies ) her Granny's Mini skirt always pop up on lists as being so bad. Leverne & Shirley ( their album ) Patty Duke Jay North The Odd Couple Sings !!( the album ) The Beaver Donny Most Ted Knight Blair ( Facts of Life ) her religious CD. Kojak " You lost that lovin feelin" even Hoss from Bonanza had a record out. Good or bad? I'm sure there are many others I left out. oh but the way..remember Nick Clooney from AMC, George Clooney's dad? He is on the radio on 1530 WSAI out of Cincinatti. If you live in the midwest or the east coast you can pick up his morning show. [This message has been edited by bb (edited 12-04-2001).] |

I own the Hogan's Heroes album, which isn't that bad. Robert Clary is a good singer, but that's how he got started. Richard Dawson doesn't sing on that particular album, but there is an album of two songs that he did sing, believe it or not. You'll catch it every now and then on ebay. He also sang on The Diana Dors Show in the late 50s.
In my web surfing adventures, I swear I came across something saying that George Maharis (Route 66) had albums out. Anyone know anything about that? |

Yes He Did !!! I knew I forgot someone. In fact I remember seeing his album at a now defunct record store for sale for $17. Not sure if it was rock or country though, could have been even jazz. Yesterday I work I did come across Jerry Mathers as The Beaver doing song called Wind Up Toy. Sounds just like the Bev. And to think they almost threw it out !!! Also I managed to save Goldie Hawn ( around her Laugh In days) her country album. Now that one was baaaadddd !!! |

Also Vicki Lawerence (Thelma Harper) sang the song "That's the Night the Lights Went Out In Georgia" which was written by her husband. |
