Default Inconsistent

In an early episode Beaver says that Larry is 146 pounds in another episode, Haunted House he says Larry is 109. In Beaver's Lucky Day they use a scale in town and Larry is 114 while Beaver is 74. He sure fluctuates in weight.

The distance to Crystal Falls from Mayfield changes from 60 miles in Ward's Problem to 90 miles in Bus Trip. In another episode I think they mention another mileage discrepancy to Crystal Falls. Just like Friends Lake.

At their old house, Benji lives across the street, at their new house, Benji lives across the street (at least in the early eps of when they first move there)

When Wally works at Gibson's Drug Store as a soda jerk, and Eddie and Lumpy play that spiteful trick on him, Wally says he lives "just around the corner" from the Rogers' home (Mary Ellen was having a slumber party). In a later episode, when Wally comes home from a basketball game and is planning on going to Mary Ellen's masquerade party, he needs a ride to get there, and finds out Eddie was not invited (he didn't know that before he called Eddie?) and Lumpy is unreachable because Beaver and Gilbert called the police on him when he parked by the house and was wearing a gangster mask.

Note: maybe the Rogers family moved to another house, but before Wally started working at Gibson's Drug, it was never mentioned he lived so close to her.

My favorite is when Maryellen Rogers changes into Myra Parker in Wally's Orchid and Gloria Kusick changes into Julie Foster.

Scrabjan1,

Wally and Beaver should have just stuck together in the bus station.

By the way, were you on the old TV Land LITB site? I think it must have been several years ago. Good to see you again on this great site!

Hi Uncle Billy yes I was on the old TV Land site years ago and have been frequenting the IMDB message boards and occasionally Sitcoms Online. IMDB Message boards just went dark. I loved the old TV Land boards they were so easy.

Scrabjan1,

Yeah, it really is too bad that imdb pulled the plug on its message boards. I don't think anyone will bother to check out their site anymore.

However, I am glad that we can discuss LITB on this great site!

Inconsistency was a favorite topic of mine on the TV Land board, when it comes to LITB. There are many more that I've written about--Gilbert's 3 last names, the lamp post that is by the driveway at the 2nd house, but (mostly) only at night (how convenient!), and there are tons of more minor things. In the credits of many sitcoms you'll see some kind of script continuity title--the Revue programs did not have this title, but really needed it. Obviously, Connelly and Mosher saw all the scripts, but they could not be expected to catch every detail. A continuity person would do that. On the flip side of this, inconsistencies are less obvious over 6 years on the network rather than 6 months in syndication.
