My romantic promise this year - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Okay I am typing this and I will revive it (I hope)next year to see what happens in that time. Quite frankly my mother's death made me realize many things, including that next Christmas will be lonely without my mom. I'm tired of being single so I am going to make a move.

I have a friend I am attracted to. Background info: we met because my parents and their good friend (who knew him)thought we would make a great couple. He told them he was seeking a girlfriend. For a few months it appeared we were heading that way. He acted like he was interested but was scared. He stared at me, he would touch me nonchalantly, etc then he had some issues and I backed off. I needed to get my life together as he did. Recently, I've been making an effort, such as baking cookies for Christmas. He came to my mom's funeral and stayed at the end. In fact he brought his mother and she asked me if I had a boyfriend. I said no and she said it gets harder as you get older. The next day I brought her flowers from my mom's funeral (we had many donations) and I told her I was going to ask him for a dinner and she smiled, saying that would be nice. She has said things in the past that sound like she wants me to be with him. I'm going to go there this week so wish me luck! I feel a strong chemistry when I'm with him, like a gluing effect.

If by chance he's not interested or whatever, this spring I am doing the online thing again. I had a hard time last time I did it but I'll do it again and have lowered standards, such as looks. Love sometimes takes time, after all. I do dread online because of my bad luck but who knows, it might work this time.

Based on the background information, I'd say that it sounds like he's into you. I think you're making the right move. Good luck and I hope everything works out in your favor!

You're going to find someone when you're not looking to hook up with anyone. Those are the best relationships IMO. Online dating scares me, too many weirdos out there. Good luck in your search, I hope you find a really great person.

Thanks all of you. Yes we have a spark definitely and we have a close friendship that keeps developing. We know what the other is thinking. I figure if it's just friends, so be it. Yeah, online scares me too, last time I met great guys but many who contacted me were creepy, like the one guy who wanted to meet at a dark place in January.
