My aunt also gave me the soundtrack to the movie The Big Chill and I would like to know if you remember this movie? It was one of the big classic movies of the 80's and was recently rereleased in a new remastered version on DVD and it featured a great and talented list of actors and actresses

I saw it in the theater first run! It really left an emotional impact on me, and I've seen it again more recently and can still say it is a really good movie!

Fair enough, Chloe, but by the end of the movie, I think you're pretty glad they did all that talking. I sure am. |

Loved the movie. Back then Hollywood made movies that simultaneously entertained and made you think and feel, too.
Now when they try to be serious it's usually ham fisted and obvious. And when they're trying to just entertain it's all "whoosh" and CGI and explosions. Sorry to digress. It also had a GREAT cast. This is one of the few films I think could do justice to a sequel. |

One of the best movies of the 80's, and one of the best movies period. Fantastic cast.

Didn't The Big Chill make the name Chloe a popular name for baby girls when it came out too? After listening to the soundtrack of The Big Chill I added the movie to my birthday list and I would've liked to have seen a sequel to The Big Chill being made because it would've been nice to watch

The Big Chill should've gotten the Oscar that year instead of Terms of Endearment!
I also thought of making a movie similar to The Big Chill called Class Reunion. It starts that someone that this main guy knew from school died of a heroin overdose. Most of his classmates from the class of 1997 in elementary school go to his funeral. Then the main guy thought of having another reception in the house that used to be owned by his grandfather. In one way...I knew someone who OD'd and passed-on...So it's like The Big Chill for Generation Y. |

I like the Big Chill, but the part where Glenn Close's character shares her husband with her friend is weird to me.

I agree but I think that she did that out of guilt as she had had an affair with Alex. So allowing Meg to sleep with Harold was her way of evening the score. Maybe that's what the movie writer had in mind ? That's how I took it anyway.
