I have read conflicting reports as to where Gail is buried. I have read she was buried here in Mobile County and then I have read that her remains were sent to her family in Maine.

It would make sense if she was buried in Mobile, as she was an unidentified "Jane Doe" body for a while. I'm sure they only keep those bodies in the morgue for a finite amount of time. If she was buried there, perhaps her family just wanted her to rest in peace and not move the body.
I always felt so bad for everyone in this story. I felt really bad for her poor kids as their mom was missing for so long and then they had to find out about her elaborate suicide. I also felt bad for Gail who was so young and obviously a troubled soul. I hope they are all at peace now. |

In the segment, it states that there was a "memorial" service that November. I thought it was odd, because usually (to me at least), a memorial service means there is no body.
I could see her being buried in Alabama, but I don't know why her family wouldn't want to move her to the northeast. I wouldn't want any of my family members stuck in the south, if we lived somewhere else. But perhaps money was an issue. |

First.. relying on findagrave as 100% accurate is a bad idea. I volunteer for findagrave.. I bust my butt on weekends documenting and photographing cemeteries. but most people are there playing a game of how many memorials can they make. Higher the number, the bigger they feel. So, accuracy suffers as a result. I just sent off a correction the other day.. Guy had a request at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, which I'm working my way through now.. I had to tell him the memorial was not in Greenwood, SC.. It was in a Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Virginia. But.. Quite often, unclaimed bodies are cremated, then the cremains buried in a paupers cemetery after a certain number of years of the ashes being unclaimed. Differs by state and even counties within states, but.. That's what happens in the vast majority of cases. Thankfully, they're generally collecting DNA samples before cremation now. |

That's really interesting. Sort of OT, but how did you get started volunteering for findagrave.com?
