This was the episode where the Bunker's find out that Stephanie is Jewish. The episode concludes with another historic moment between Archie and Stephanie. Archie comes home and finds Stephanie on the porch and they ask each other if they are mad at each other. This of course stems from what Archie has always thought about Jewish people. We all know what that is. After they tell each other that neither of them are mad about the situation, Archie and Stephanie have a very special scene together. Archie presents Stephanie with a Jewish star necklace, she says it is beautiful and Archie then walks away but turns around again to tell her that it takes someone to love someone else very much to give the person the Jewish Star. He then says it takes someone to love everything about the other person to give them the Jewish Star necklace. The show ends to an arousing applause to a very significant moment in the series. Anytime Archie shows that side of himself in a scene of an episode like this one it becomes a legendary part of television history. Every time I see this scene it hits home because I am of the Jewish faith. I always wondered if Danielle understood how significant that scene was for the series as well as a legendary TV moment in history. I don't know if she's Jewish in real life but if I was her parent at the time and I saw that scene regardless of my faith I'd be inclined to make her know how proud she should have been to be in a scene like that and to become a part of what I think is a piece of legendary TV history. For Arhcie's character to be as sensitive to Stephanie in a scene like that must be considered a major impact on the series and on legendary TV moments in history.
By the way just to review AITF finished 4th on the TV guide Top 50 shows ever. I know that Seinfeld was first, I Love Lucy was second, and the Honeymooners were 3rd. If anyone cares my favorite drama show ever, thirtysomething finished at #19, I believe three ahead of my second favorite drama show of all time, ER which finished at #22.
