rejuvenated? I feel like for a while it was getting stagnant here at the boards and I felt like the general public were forgetting about these cases more and more (ie. when I went to Breckenridge, the few people I asked about the orange sock case had no idea what I was talking about, and they had lived there for 10+ years.) Since the release of the Stack versions streaming, I feel like this is all new again, and the boards have been super active, and excited to see the general public get into these cases again. It feels like an entirely new show and I don't feel as much of a "freak" when people ask what I'm watching and I say UM, and they say "what channel is that on" and I say, "Oh, they are homemade DVD's, I need my fix that badly."
Just wanted to let that out here! ha. Hopefully others feel the same...I know people (spouse and family included) who think I'm nuts for being obsessed with unsolved mysteries and unsolved murders in general.

It's great to have these season 1 episodes on streaming but I'm still really hoping they'll get a DVD release. I know it's probably hopeless but you never know.

Yeah, we're all probably a little weird but that's ok. I actually got my wife hooked on UM too because of the DVDs and now she is looking forward to seeing the Amazon shows. I think this is good and I hope a new crowd gets into UM. I bet we'll see more people join the board as they see UM on Amazon and then Google to find out more info. While a bit dated, the Stack episodes are still very good and I say much more easy to watch then the Farina episodes. There is a certain creepiness that made the Stack episodes so fun to watch and they've never reproduced that. |

Yep, even though the picture quality is cleaned up, it's still creepy. It's so much more effective with Stack and the original music.

Absolutely and I'm enjoying watching them in a sequence that appears to be close very close to what it was in the first season. Back when I would have been too scared to watch every segment anyway. This is nostalgia at its best for me.

Watched the first episode last night and it was refreshing to see the clear picture and sound. Nothing against 4th generation VHS/DVD copies but there was something about sitting back and just being able to watch the show in good quality again while getting paranoid like it was the late 80s all over again.

I don't know how hard it would be to buy the episode, download it, and burn it to a DVD. Not all Amazon content can be downloaded once it is purchased. |

Also, it's refreshing to see all of the Season 1 segments because that was a time in the show (was like that for quite a few more seasons as well) when nearly all of the re-enactments were filmed at the actual locations and when family and friends of a victim would sometimes just play themselves in the re-enactments.

While some segments from season 1 seem to be missing, the bonus is that these segments are from the original airing. Meaning that even if you own the bootleg DVDs, these are the non-Lifetime Channel extended segments. Some cases I don't even remember from the bootlegs, let alone some extra stuff (i.e. Friends to the End update with Stack and Investigator having a one on one talk.)

I'm seeing some segments that I don't recall knowing anything about before as well. |
