Hoping someone can jog my memory.
I've noticed that Amazon is not using the original voice over narration during the "What you are about to see is NOT a news broadcast." I was wondering if this was to save on royalties to the gentleman's estate, since I believe he passed away. Lifetime used a woman during the opening narration when it aired on Lifetime. Does anyone know the gentleman's name? I think he also did a lot of movie trailers back in the day. |

The updated version irks me quite a bit. It sounds so generic. If they had no access to the original, I'd would have rather had no voice at all.
But I can't gripe too much, all we had was Farina segments, and now we have the real deal! I'm totally glad they were able to get this up in such a high quality. They really did a knock-out job. |

I think the original guy was specific to NBC broadcasts, which is why Lifetime changed it to the same voice as the "television for women" ads. I'm kind of annoyed at the Film Rise change because of the way the guy changes the emphasis on "news broadcast". Also, they've used the font that is generic in Avid's title tool instead of matching the original or just keeping the original slate and redoing the voice. At least we have the episodes, though.
