Default One Day at a Time reboot premieres today

So far it seems to be getting some good reviews and word of mouth. We don't have Netflix, but even if we did I still probably wouldn't watch it, except for maybe the Mackenzie Phillips episode. It's not being made for me, but I hope it has a good long run and someone watching it right now finds the celeb love of their life like I did with the original back in the day.

Default Just My Opinion

I think some shows just should not be remade. I barely got through the first 10 minutes of this new 'One Day At A Time' show episode 1 and it's awful, imo. Other people may really like it. The original from the 1970's was really good. I wonder if they were trying to copy George Lopez who had a show. His show was good, but whatever this new One Day At A Time show is trying to do, doesn't work for me.

I'd might have watched it if it weren't for Nextflix.

I got Netflix for 30 day free trial and went for the max....full HD or UHD which was $12. Not bad...want to watch Fuller House and One Day At A Time.

I watched the first episode and part of episode 2 so far. The family is Cuban and the Bonnie Franklin character is now an RN/LVN. She is raising a daughter and son. Her mother lives with her too. The apartment is the exact same one that was used in the original series. It is surreal to see the set again. There is also a new Schneider. He could pass as regular Schneider's son but the new version doesn't have the look of a plumber/fix it man. There is flirtation with the grandmother and the Schneider character in the first episode. The actress playing the BF character reminds me of Eva Longoria from DH. IMO the son is funnier than the daughter. After episode 1 the grandmother played by Rita Moreno carries the show. The opening is song by Gloria Estefan and is the exact same song from the original series except the opening reminds me of Chico and the Man. There is a lot of English/Spanish all over the first episode. That threw me off even though I am latino....LOL. The original of course is better. This one will take more episodes to figure out if its worth a second season. So far I am just luke warm to it. Nothing special or great about it after episode 1.

Thanks for the review Ron! You seem to have given a pretty accurate description ! I'm curious, I'd like to check it out, but we don't have Netflix!

You're welcome! The first episode deals with grandma wanting to throw a Quinceańera for her grandaughter(Elena) and she refuses until the very end when Elena's mother convinces her to have one.

I am sure season 1 will be out on dvd soon just like Fuller House.

The daughter is 15 than right, being it's time for her Quinceanera ? The Son is younger I'm thinking?

I think it's interesting that the apartment/set is the same as the original!

Hey Bonniegirl!

I thought this was really a good show, it didn't need to rip off the title of the old one though. It stands very much on its own. Miss Rita Moreno and Justina Machado have great timing and mom/daughter chemistry.

cocogurl put it up on YT. Watch it before they take it down!

Meanwhile, Netflix has a 30 day free trial and their regular price is not that high. I may give it a try.

Let me know what you think!

Yes, the daughter is the older one by 3 years. The son is 12 years old. The son is online buying shoes. Five pair of shoes....one for each day....LOL. I find him funnier than the sister. He asks his mother for her credit card number. Later on they show the son wearing pink girly shoes....LOL. With all the ordering he did online they either sent him the wrong shoes or he ordered the wrong ones....LOL.
