There is a lot of info out there about the missing person Randy Leach (1988 from a party). They even have a play about it. There are so many twist and turns, but this one was a little off.
(A man claiming to be associated with the show Unsolved Mysteries calling himself Terry Martin and Lee Harper came into contact with the Leaches but it was discovered he wasn't really with the show. Around the same time, Leavenworth County Detective Dawn Weston began investigating the case with Martin/Harper. Three men were quickly arrested but were soon released. Weston and Martin/Harper left the state reportedly afraid for their lives. Weston was soon dismissed from the sheriff's office and Martin/Harper disappeared.[7][8][9] A Topeka man who offered to help the Leaches find Randy was found dead along with his wife. Topeka police ruled it a murder-suicide.[2]) Some of the other information shows that yes UM was going to do a show on it but for some reason it feel threw. Just wondering if anyone has heard of it. http://www.wikigrain.org/?req=Randy+Leach&sort=date http://truecrimediva.com/the-disappe...f-randy-leach/ |

I've read a synopsis of it once or twice before.
Do you think a police cover-up might have occurred in this case? That would explain those examples of people who have tried to investigate in the area and have been rebuffed in some way, shape, or form. Or maybe someone who knew or was related to a cop was responsible for Randy Leach's disappearance. |

I am not sure, the crazy thing is he and his car is missing, the house where the party was burned down.
I remember reading how happy the family was that it was going to be on UM that maybe someone would talk. But it was just a lie

Oh man, I remember reading about this case. It's a bizarre one! According to the Charley Project page, there were rumours that Randy was abducted and killed by a Satanic cult, so I'm surprised UM didn't jump all over the opportunity to cover this story:

I think that Erwin family (hosts of the party) almost certainly knows what happened to Randy Leach. Like many cases that remain unsolved for a long time, I'm guessing the detective work in this case wasn't as strong as it could have been.

It's possible that he had an accident while driving home and that both he and the vehicle are in the Kansas River or another nearby body of water. It sounds like due in part to scheduling and heavy caseloads, the investigation wasn't all that it could have been:
http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2014/no...ars-kbi-case-/ Apparently the FBI and the KBI also looked into convicted murderer Eric Montgomery, but other than proximity and the allegations of an associate, there doesn't seem to be any strong connection. |
