I was watching Surviving Gillgans Island and Dawn said that people kept writing to the U.S. Navy asking them to send a ship to rescue those poor castaways, lol. OMG! Are people really that naive?

I've heard this too, and it really is laughable. You'd think that 13 years after I Love Lucy premiered, people would be familiar with the idea of a "sitcom" but apparently not. The only explanation I can think of is this audience must have had a fuzzy reception on their TV and/or GI directly followed their local news and they couldn't tell the difference between scripted comedy and real-world issues.
Though that still doesn't explain how they could have overlooked the opening titles/theme song and the fact that a bunch of unseen jokers in the background were laughing profusely at the poor helpless castaways. ![]() But at least their heart was in the right place.

You'r right. They probably did have a fuzzy TV. Well? Atleast their hearts were in the right place.
