How Will Carrie Fisher'e Death Affect Star Wars?

There are spoilers in this message, so if you have not seen Star Wars Episode 7, or Episode 5, then read at your own risk.

As we all know, only days after Carrie Fisher suffered a massive heart attack, she has passed away and will be severely missed, along with her wonderful mother, Debbie Reynolds. Sadly, Carrie's passing was unexpected and she is now among the stars who have left us to early. Now, many Star Wars fans have asked what becomes of General/Princess Leia Organa. Obviously her character will have to be killed off in episode 8 or 9.

Because we don't know what happens (YET) in episode 8, she may have been killed off in that one. We do know that Carrie completed the filming of EP 8 so we will see Leia in the next Star Wars, hopefully reunited with her powerful jedi brother, Luke Skywalker. If the writers didn't intend for her character to die, then some massive rewriting is gonna take place for episode 9. Some fans see this killing off of her character, that could be done by Kylo Ren, (Ben Solo, her son) as a means of showing how evil he really is, considering he murdered his own father in EP 7.

The other question many fans ask, is Rey, a Solo? Or is Rey a Skywalker, perhaps Luke's daughter? In Episode 5 Empire Strikes Back, we learned, shockingly, 2 truths. that Darth Vader was Luke and Leia's father, and also shockingly that Luke was Leia's brother. Perhaps we will find out about Rey's origins in episode 8,and what happens to General Leia.
