Now, I know that the Honeymooners XMas Party ('53 version) was shown in syndication as part of "Season's Greetings From The Honeymooners", but I thought I would tell you people this story.
In 1997, I was a fairly new Honeymooners fan. One of the misconceptions that I had was the fact that all the Honeymooners episodes (lost & Classic 39) that the old website (honeymooners.net) had listed were the only ones ever made. Not only that, but I thought that ALL of them (possibly with the exception of a few) were in syndication. For the 1997 holiday season, I purchased the home video releases "Honeymooners Christmas Party/Forgot To Register" & "New Year's Eve Party/Two-Family Car." I then did some web surfing and found out from an old TV listings site (possibly the site now called Screener.com) that WPIX was going to show the Honeymooners Christmas Party" in two parts at 12:30a just before XMas 1997. The website also said that WPIX was going to show New Year's Eve Party in two parts at 12:30a just before New Year's Eve 1997. Now, I don't know if WPIX ever aired the shows or not. I didn't record them since I already had the home video releases and me being a fairly new fan at the time, I didn't know the significance behind these shows. I think it would have been stupid for WPIX to spend $$$ to acquire them and show them at 12:30a because the fact that those episodes have a TON of musical clearance issues (unless WPIX edited all the songs out.) But, to this day, I still kick myself for not recording. I wanted to see if the station was stupid enough to air them or not and if they did, I probably would be able to provide screen caps due to the fact that during this time, TV stations started putting their logos on screen. |
